After the racist smear campaign by @writing-prompt-s dragging Ahmed (90-ghost) and Mahmoud through the mud, Maysaa's campaign received over $2k in donations in 24 hours! I won't paint this horrific bigotry as a positive, because it wasn't, and isn't. The fact people are willing to let nobody gimmick blogs with the equivalent charisma and creativity as a pile of shit dictate who is and is not enduring literal fucking genocide has really just proven how precarious their whole charade is with a moral fiber as thick as a single piece of hair. (That said, I am EXTREMELY grateful for everyone's resulting support. Someone donated $1k last night and I couldn't believe I was actually reading that many zeros.)

Hard Truths about the Hands Off protest on April 5th

As the media quibble over whether Saturday’s “Hands Off” protests brought out millions of peaceful protesters or just hundreds of thousands, I think it’s vital to speak more seriously.

It is far too late in the game to forget:

It is insanely delusional to believe that the Democrats are capable of changing in a meaningful way, and it is insanely delusional to trust them. They are guilty of genocide, mass murder, mass incarceration, impoverishment, bloody wars, and oppressive politics. The system they uphold, the system they promise can be reformed if we just trust them one more time, has condemned this generation and the next one and the next one to a future of unimaginable suffering, danger, and poverty.

I say this as someone who depends on Medicaid and food stamps, both of which I am more likely to lose under the Trump administration: the political distance between Democrats and Republicans is not enough to make a difference between death and survival, between humiliation and dignity, between oppression and freedom.

Any older folks reading this who think the Democrats deserve another chance, or they’re the best alternative we have? You probably did alright under the economy of the past half century. Well guess what? Your kids, your grandchildren, and your great grandchildren are all f*cked because the system you think can be reformed has been enslaving, bombing, genociding, ecoding, deforesting, pillaging, and exploiting for the last 500+ years and now it’s time to pay the piper. Now—forget getting a mortgage—the conditions for life on this entire planet are becoming increasingly inimical to basic survival. The signs of this, the data, the peer-reviewed reports are everywhere you look, yet you have your heads so far up your asses because I guess it’s comfier that way that you cannot see basic realities that are factually indisputable.

I say this with a lot of love (honestly I tend to like old geezers more than a lot of these screen-addled cyborg zoomers) but also with a lot of rage: if you cannot own up to your profound wrongness and dedicate the rest of your life to fighting for the possibility of a future, just die already if it’s the only way you can keep from painting these Institutions of Death with a thin layer of naïve legitimacy.

And while I’m hating, let’s share the hate: young people, people my age, everybody: learn your fucking history.

Nonviolent movements have not worked one single fucking time to achieve a transformative, radical change in society.

All the big publishers, movie studios, and public broadcasters put out huge productions about how amazing nonviolence is, about Gandhi, about MLK, and they do it to erase the deeply complex, contradictory, and diverse resistance movements that have actually existed, so that we don’t have a history to learn from. Meanwhile, if you write a book laying all this out, only the tiniest of presses will consider publishing it, and you can expect to get stopped at a lot of borders for the rest of your life. And no, it’s not because there are errors in your citations.

Authoritarian political parties? Marxism? Ecosocialism? Are you kidding me? These things are making a comeback? Learn your history! Revolutions lead by political parties only recreated the oppressions they were fighting in a slightly altered form. Marxist revolutions were capitalism’s best friend throughout the 20th century in all the marginalized, less resourced countries where private investors were dropping the ball, focusing on short-term parasitism rather than building up the state institutions capitalism needs in order to function.

Taleb al-Majli effortlessly recites his detainee identification number from Iraq’s infamous Abu Ghraib prison, where he was held more than 20 years ago—the numbers forever etched into his memory.

“Every day I still think about what happened to me,” explains the 58-year-old, who says American soldiers tortured and humiliated him in the prison. He is sitting on the hard floor of a small, mostly unfurnished, apartment he rents in Baghdad. “It lives inside me and never leaves me alone. I cannot begin to heal until I get justice for what they did to me.”

The torture and abuse of detainees by United States soldiers in Abu Ghraib made headlines and was broadcast from newsrooms around the world when photographs were released in April 2004 showing a hooded man standing on a box with electrical wires attached to his fingers, along with men stripped naked, leashed like dogs, or forced into sexual positions while US soldiers gleefully posed beside them. Majli tells The Real News Network that he appears in one of these images, in which naked detainees with bags over their heads are piled on top of each other in a disturbing human pyramid. Two American soldiers—Sabrina Harman and Charles Graner—are smiling and giving a thumbs up.

“The only thing I could think about at that moment was that I wish I had died before experiencing this,” Majli says, fiddling with his thumbs. “They stole my humanity from me. I still haven’t been able to process what happened to me there.”

last week two ambulances, a fire truck, a UN vehicle and around 16 rescue workers were dispatched to save people crushed under the rubble after a bombing in rafah (do you remember rafah? one of biden's red lines.) they disappeared, and due to israeli tanks nobody could enter the area and nobody knew what had happened to them.

a few days ago after the tanks left the vehicles were discovered crushed and buried under the sand, and one rescue worker's body was recovered. israel admitted to targeting them. and then yesterday the rest of the workers' bodies were recovered in a mass grave. one of the corpses had wire around one foot, indicating torture and interrogation, several handcuffed, all of them buried in their clearly marked uniforms and gloves.

cnn reported this story alongside like five other incidents of israel targeting humanitarian workers this past week to little outrage because the workers killed were palestinian and not international, and because israel has been regularly killing humanitarian workers.

but for the PRCS (the palestinian red crescent society), the same organization that hind rajab called desperately from her car around this time last year, one of the few that struggled to save lives throughout the war even when it got their workers killed by israeli forces, these are fathers, sons and loved ones who spent a genocide digging people out of rubble with no equipment and trying to save lives:

all of them were buried in a careless mass grave of rescue workers, found after a week of pleading from their loved ones and radio silence from their murderers and those who enable them.

I swear to you that Gaza is hungry, and the remaining food stocks are not enough for the maximum of more than ten days and will completely end .. I am once more appealing for my friend Ayah! She has tried to keep a brave face this Eid and has bought new clothes for her small children to bring them joy, but in reality, she is wracked with anxiety over the future. The fundraiser that they are relying on is not getting any donations. The situation is incredibly dire.

Since their old fundraiser was shut down, their new fundraiser has only raised €3,219 out of their goal €50,000 in 4 months of campaigning. This is not nearly enough for anyone to live off of, let alone a whole family living through a genocide where the cost of living is skyrocketing due to the scarcity of food, medicine, and supplies.
