We are a family of ten trying to survive in northern Gaza. Our landlord keeps increasing our rent, and we will be at the mercy of the drones and the tanks if we have to leave, on top of having to leave behind all of our belongings. Every kind of food at the market now costs a fortune and there are no jobs available due to the dangerous situation outside, so we have to fully rely on this campaign.

My sister Soso is only four years old, what kind of life is this for her? My mother and I have been sick and thankfully we finally got the help of a doctor, but that means we had to pay for the medicine as well. In the midst of this, I’m also trying to complete my engineering degree, but it’s difficult with money worries on my mind.

Please help, I swear I’ll be thankful for anything. Share at least if you can’t afford to donate.

✅Vetted by @gazavetters, my number verified on the list is ( #347 )✅

Threats to journalists in conflict zones are increasing at a time when journalism is under unprecedented threat and the news industry is mired in a decades-long downward spiral. Since the 2000s, national governments and terrorist groups – from Israel, Syria’s Assad regime and the United States to the Islamic State – have found ways to curtail conflict coverage through myriad means, from repressive policies to armed attack. All have killed journalists and helped to foster a culture of impunity, turning conflict zones like Syria and Gaza into “news graveyards.” The war in Gaza has, since October 7, 2023, killed more journalists than the U.S. Civil War, World Wars I and II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War (including the con2licts in Cambodia and Laos), the wars in Yugoslavia in the 1990s and 2000s, and the post-9/11 war in Afghanistan, combined. It is, quite simply, the worst ever conflict for reporters.

Was there ever any talk of moving Talita back to the centaur homeplanet when she was an older kid/teen?

Avatar

The details are spoilers but they didn't send her to the home planet before she was capable of having opinions about it, and by the time she had opinions, she didn't want to go. The older she got, the more strong her avoidance of the topic got. Her feelings on the subject are complicated but she especially hates it being brought up as an "easy solution" to her difficulties fitting into human society. She visits the planet for the first time in her 40s and then occasionally returns for multi-month work trips (helping set up permanent electrical infrastructure). She ends up enjoying her time there and gains valuable perspective on herself and the species she belongs to, but it is never her home.

A judge has ruled that the Trump administration can deport Mahmoud Khalil, who committed no crime, because of his belief that Palestine should be free.

Mahmoud Khalil is a legal U.S. resident. He was a leader in Columbia University's high-profile pro-Palestine protests last year. The judge said she cannot question Secretary of State Marco Rubio's determination that these protests were antisemitic and disruptive and "fostered a hostile environment for Jewish students in the US."
