Pokemon has revealed a lot more about its upcoming Mega Dimension DLC for Pokemon Legends: Z-A. The expansion's first proper trailers included a look at two new Mega Evolutions, confirmed a release date, and perhaps most exciting of all, revealed you will be able to train your Pokemon beyond level 100.
Pokemon decided to drop not one, but three trailers revealing previously unrevealed details about Z-A's Mega Dimension DLC. One of the trailers kicked off with trainers battling against Pokemon that have leveled up beyond 100, one of them having gone all the way up to 150. A series first as we close in on 30 years of Pokemon games, and that presumably means your own Pokemon can be trained up to level 100 and beyond in the DLC too.
Take Your Pokemon Beyond Level 100 For The First Time This December
We already knew that at least one more Pokemon would be getting Mega Evolution as part of the DLC. Two of them, in fact, as Mega Raichu will have an X and a Y form. However, Mega Dimension trailer number two gave us a first look at two previously unannounced and unrevealed Mega Evolutions - Mega Chimecho and Mega Baxcalibur.
There will presumably be a lot more Mega Evolutions to discover via the DLC, as the story explanation as to how exactly Lumiose City will be expanded upon for Mega Dimension revealed that there will be a lot more Pokemon to catch. Hoopa was the first of the new additions, and it's the Psychic/Ghost-type's portals that will allow you to step into an alternate version of Lumiose.
The somewhat blank version of Z-A's backdrop is not only filled with more Pokemon to catch, but it appears to be from of Wild Zones. The implication appears to be that Hoopa's portals will transport you to different parts of the alternate version of Lumiose, which might mean certain Pokemon can only be found in certain areas, as opposed to keeping them divided via Wild Zones.
You'll be able to explore Z-A's Mega Dimension DLC when the expansion drops on December 10, 2025. There was an expectation among fans that the expansion might be saved for 2026, possibly getting a Pokemon Day shadow drop next February. However, releasing it more than two weeks before Christmas Day is likely a tactical move to try and get as many people to buy the latest Pokemon game in time for the holidays.
There was a third trailer that dropped at the same time, which is unrelated to the DLC. An additional side mission that you can seemingly access right away without having to pay anything extra. The update adds Diancie to the game, allowing players to add the Pokemon to their team once the mission is complete, along with its Mega Evolution.
