On Wednesday, PlayStation confirmed some longstanding rumors about an upcoming State of Play, announcing that June 2 will play host to an extended showcase involving Marvel's Wolverine and other "upcoming PS5 games."

Since then, speculation has run rampant about what PlayStation might show off during its hour-plus-long show. Thanks to a new trademark filing, we might have a better idea of at least one of the games to expect, and it's one we haven't seen in quite some time.

Fairgames.

Or at least, a rebranded version of the previously-announced heist game from Haven Studios.

As first reported by VideoGamesChronicle, the company has filed a trademark with the US Patent and Trademark Office for "Break In." The filing has a May 20, 2026, date, and it's related to entertainment services and video game software.

Adding fuel to the fire was a response from Bloomberg's Jason Schreier about the title being related to Fairgames in some way.

It's worth noting that "Break In" is an objective in a newly-added mode that features extraction shooter elements, per a recent report from Insider Gaming. That's where the naming convention could be tied into.

Sorry Console Exclusives, I Didn't Mean All The Awful Things I Said About You

This better not be the start of another console war...

Back in April, Tom Henderson reported that a mode called "Cargo Heist," one that is an extraction shooter with an objective, had been added to the game.

The full mode description, as relayed by Henderson, is as follows:

Break In — Find a vault code to gain access to the safe. Collect cash, upgrade your skillset, and make your play.

Drill — The vault is breached. Be the team to grab the cargo, or set up your strategy to intercept it.

Extract —The Cargo must be brought to the Extraction Site. Use the Extraction device to call your ride home. If your team fails to extract cargo, use another exit to Getaway.

Shortly after, in another sweeping report about Fairgames, it was reported that the game as a whole isn't very fun, and that the extraction-like mode wasn't entirely unique or very extraction shooter-like.

This Wouldn't Be The First Rebrand For Fairgames

Oddly enough, if Fairgames becomes Break In, then it wouldn't be the first time the title has received some sort of rebrand.

PlayStation gamers might recall that two years ago, a leaked survey from PlayStation noted that the title had shifted from Fairgame$ to Fairgames.

Originally, when the game was revealed, a significant element of its promotion was that the "S" in Fairgames was a $. That didn't necessarily sit well with gamers, who found it tacky. Now, it appears that Break In is what the title will be called.
