Build A Rocket Boy faces another challenge, now losing its publishing partner. IOI Partners, the publishing arm of IOI Interactive, has announced that its work on MindsEye has come to an end, and both parties are scrapping future work that was planned.
Because of this, those who stuck with MindsEye throughout all of the negative press and reviews will no longer get the Hitman crossover event they were promised last summer. We don't get an explanation for this cancellation, but given that Build A Rocket Boy has rolled out layoffs and is facing pressure over how it allegedly treated its employees, I am sure we can hazard a guess.
IOI Is Staying Well Away From MindsEye Going Forward
IOI announced its departure from MindsEye with a short statement.
"IOI Partners and Build A Rocket Boy today announce the conclusion of their publishing collaboration for MindsEye, effective 16 March 2026, with Build A Rocket Boy assuming sole publishing responsibilities going forward," the statement opens.
We're told that the two will be "coordinating closely to ensure a seamless transition" in the coming weeks, but beyond that, the two are parting ways. Which means scrapping a future event.
"In light of this separation, the Hitman mission announced in June 2025, planned as a crossover event within MindsEye, will no longer be released," the statement continues. "However, [Build A Rocket Boy] plans on working with partners on other projects in the future. Both IOI Partners and Build A Rocket Boy recognise the anticipation this collaboration generated among the community and express their appreciation for the support shown by the players."
Following this, Build A Rocket Boy also sent out a statement of its own, as both parties appear to be eager to suggest this was an amicable decision.
"Last month, MindsEye received its most significant post-launch update yet, achieving the studio’s vision for quality and setting the stage for exciting future content updates," a representative speaking on behalf of the developer tells us. "Within the coming months, Build A Rocket Boy will outline the future of MindsEye by revealing a new expansion that adds end-game content and enhanced world exploration, as well as introducing a multiplayer mode in MindsEye’s Arcadia."
What is interesting to note is that, while it was rumoured that this split would be happening, it was claimed that Build A Rocket Boy would be the ones to initiate the breakup. Now, this could very well have been the case, but it's unclear what Build A Rocket Boy would have to gain from what, especially since it is now missing out on an event with a well-known and well-liked IP. Either way, it's official now, so all future publishing duties will fall on the developer, unless it enters a new partnership with another publisher.
