Mega Evolution was thrust back into the spotlight in a big way in 2025 thanks to its inclusion as a core mechanic in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. That reintroduction has spilled over into 2026, as some of the Mega Evolved Pokemon that were featured in the latest game have been added to a growing collection of Mega Evolution plushes.
The three newest Mega Evolution plushes revealed by The Pokemon Company, which will be available at Pokemon Centers in Japan later this week, are Mega Banette, Mega Absol, and Mega Sableye. All Mega Evolutions that were introduced before Pokemon Legends: Z-A, but the trio was introduced to a whole new generation of Pokemon fans via Game Freak's most recent release.
Banette, Absol, And Sableye Join Pokemon's Mega Evolution Plush Collection
The three plushes are standard-sized and based on the in-game designs of each Pokemon. Mega Absol has a much bigger and fluffier tail than a regular Absol, Mega Banette is far taller than a normal Banette with golden markings and big claws, and Mega Sableye's defining feature is the big red gem it uses to defend itself.
Yes, as always, these plushes will be available in Japan before they become available to buy anywhere else. Mega Evolution plushes do tend to get a worldwide release, though, it's just impossible to predict when that global rollout might be. On the one hand, you'd think Pokemon would want to capitalize on the launch of Legends: Z-A, and with it, the renewed popularity for Mega Evolution, while the game is at the forefront of everyone's minds. On the other hand, it has a lot more to think about in the coming months than it usually does.
Eight Mega Evolutions Just Got Turned Into Pokemon Plushes But Don't Worry, None Of Them Are Dragonite
Mega Evolution plushes are here just in time for Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
That's because we are officially in Pokemon's anniversary year, with Pokemon Day only a little more than a month away. We already know Pokemon's first Lego sets will be released shortly after that anniversary, along with Pokemon Pokopia, and there are almost certainly more announcements that will be made on February 27.
Pokemon Has A Lot More To Reveal For Its 30th Birthday
The big one most fans are expecting is news about Pokemon's Gen 10 games. Leaks have claimed those games will be called Pokemon Wind & Wave. Even though it will have only been four months since the launch of Legends: Z-A, there's a chance we will be shown the Gen 10 games for the first time next month, and even a chance they get a 2026 release date.
Back to the incoming trio of plushes, Banette, Absol, and Sableye will join the recently revealed Mega Dragonite plush. Despite the backlash towards its design when revealed in 2025, Mega Dragonite is the first entirely new Mega design from Legends: Z-A to get its own plush.
