Reliable insider Tom Henderson doesn't think that pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto 6 are going to open on Monday, despite thinking that the leaked Best Buy email is legitimate.

GTA fans have been waiting a very long time for any kind of concrete update on the most anticipated release in gaming history, and this week has finally provided a light at the end of the tunnel. As I'm sure you're all aware, Best Buy sent out an email to select users that suggested pre-orders for the game were finally going to open on Monday, May 18.

This single shred of hope has sent the whole internet into a flurry, with many expecting not only pre-orders to open on Monday, but the long-awaited Trailer 3 to pop up as well to keep excitement high. As exciting as it's been to believe that GTA 6 news is actually right around the corner for once, not everyone is convinced.

Tom Henderson Thinks GTA 6 Pre-Orders Won't Open On Monday

In Fact, He Thinks We Won't Hear Anything Until July At The Earliest

Yesterday, Tom Henderson appeared with the rest of the Insider Gaming crew on the latest episode of Insider Gaming Weekly, which, of course, had a heavy focus on the recent GTA 6 leaks. Henderson has previously confirmed the legitimacy of the Best Buy email, but that doesn't mean he's convinced that pre-orders are actually inbound.

While on the subject, Henderson reiterated Insider Gaming's belief that we're not going to see anything "tangible" on GTA 6 until around July or August, before saying that he believes the email was legitimate but might just have been a mistake on Best Buy's part. Henderson says, as a result, the next few days are going to be "insufferable".

If pre-orders do start on Monday, Henderson also doesn't think that necessarily means Trailer 3 is going to be released at the same time.

In Henderson's belief, Monday is going to roll around without pre-orders dropping at all, and then Take-Two's investor call will just have Strauss Zelnick saying the same thing about GTA 6's release date being on track and that more information is planned for the Summer. Henderson has been pretty spot on with GTA leaks in the past, so it's worth tempering expectations.

That being said, it's also worth noting that this is just the opinion of Henderson and the Insider Gaming team, and not a full-blown report. There's a chance that pre-orders really could be shadow-dropped out of nowhere on May 18, but Henderson really doesn't think that's going to be the case.
