All mobs in Minecraft (26.3)

Here's the complete list of all Minecraft mobs separated by type

A composite image of two Minecraft mobs: on the left is a goat in a grassland biome during the day, and on the right is a Piglin Brute in a desert biome at night.

Keeping up with all of Minecraft's mobs is a herculean task in itself, one that grows even more daunting if you're trying to remember which type of mob does what. Are chickens breedable and tameable? What about horses and skeletal horses? Does it even matter?

Of course it matters. For those without Minecraft encyclopedias stuffed inside their noggins, we've put together a list of every Minecraft mob, separated by their type. The most common type is the passive mob, which encompasses pretty much anything that doesn't automatically want to kill you. There are various subtypes under "passive," though, including breedable and rideable, which we've listed in their own sections.

On this page:

All passive mobs

Passive mobs are mobs that will never attack you, even if you attack them first. Most of these mobs are harmless animals that will flee if attacked or, in some cases, even if you just wander up to them unthreateningly. Passive mobs are divided into different categories, including tameable and rideable, though the list below includes the outcasts, the ones that defy categorization. Y'know, pigs and chickens. You'll get a lot of use out of these passive mobs and frequently need their produce for crafting.

  • Camel
  • Cat
  • Chicken

Breedable mobs

Breedable mobs are what they say on the label. You can pair these together and get more of them! Which is useful for farming and crafting. There's a lot of overlap between these and your standard passive mobs, though we've separated them since not every passive mob is breedable. If you put two skeleton horses together, you just have two skeleton horses.

Tameable mobs

Tameable mobs are the ones you can bring with you, like pets, if you kept foxes and donkeys as pets. Some of them overlap with rideable and breedable mobs, too, though not many.

Rideable mobs

If you're reading the list in order, you've probably noticed a trend: the categories gradually pull in smaller subsets. Like this one. Rideable mobs are also tameable, and some of them are breedable.

  • Camel
  • Donkey
  • Horse
  • Mule
  • Pig
  • Skeleton Horse
  • Strider

Neutral mobs

Minecraft boss mobs

Minecraft has three boss mobs as of the time of publication. As you'd expect from the name, boss mobs are powerful creatures with their own health bars, and they're the most dangerous enemies you'll run across. Not including other players in PvP servers, of course.

  • Elder Guardian
  • Ender Dragon
  • Wither
