When it was announced back in March that Xbox's backwards compatibility program was getting revived for the brand's 25th anniversary, there were a lot of questions as to whether that meant brand-new backwards compatibility additions from the OG Xbox and Xbox 360 era, or perhaps something else like the BC program making its debut on PC.
We still don't have the specifics on what's happening later this year, but interestingly, Xbox exec Jason Ronald has invited fans to share their requests for new backwards compatibility titles via the Xbox Game Preservation website, which is a non-official Xbox fansite that started gaining traction a few months ago.
Here's what Ronald had to say in response to a fan about this:
This is the first time we can recall an Xbox employee actually inviting these kinds of requests from the Xbox community since November of 2021, when it was announced that no further backwards compatibility titles would be added "due to licensing, legal and technical constraints". Fingers crossed they've managed to find a way around it!
It also proves that they're paying attention to the Xbox Game Preservation site, so if there's something you really want to see added to backwards compatibility, it's worth voting for it on there — the leaderboard is perhaps overly dominated by Transformers games as things stand.
Before you do that though, let us know what you'll be voting for down in the comments section below!

I know I'm in the minority, but all I want is Rallisport Challenge 2. One of my favorite racing games of all time. Still holds up today.
@JustinSane I know what you mean. Great game
Glad Xbox is listening to fans and making the changes that have seemed necessary.
Its great too see this. However id love too see more legacy games put on gp such as blue dragon and last oddessy.
Here is my list:
OG XBox:
All the other games I own have either been re-released or no interest in playing again.
Blur and the Project Gotham Racing games please!
I wish we could vote for titles who are no longer available digitally since the Series S is kind of a thing. I would love to have access to Prince of Persia (2008) and SC Pandora Tomorrow, but since they are technically BC compatible, they're not eligible for voting
I just voted for all the Xbox 360 jrpgs that didn’t get brought over as well as some excellent Japanese original Xbox games such as Castlevania Curse of Darkness, Crimson Sea and Silent Hill. It’ll be interesting to see how hard Xbox goes at this next attempt at adding to the backwards compatibility after suggesting years ago it was pretty much done with.
Lord of the rings and spiderman games
Project Gotham Racing 1-4.
The original versions of each Halo game.
The original version of Fable 1.
Jet Set Radio Future.
Xmen Legends 1 and 2
Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2
Spiderman Web of Shadows
Spiderman Shattered Dimensions
Ultimate Spiderman
Batman Origins
Hulk Ultimate Destruction
The orange box would be snapped up in seconds if it became available again by myself!
@Skinny-Pete The Orange Box already is backwards compatible.
While that's better than nothing, the site isn't exactly perfect for this. For example, I search for Condemned: Criminal Origins to vote for it. The site says it's on the marketplace, but it actually isn't so you can't vote for it.
Anyway my list:
Jet Set Radio Future
Condemned 2: Bloodshot
Armored Core 4
Armored Core V
Armored Core: For Answer
Armored Core: Verdict Day
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan
MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf
Dead or Alive Xtreme 2
Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball
I ran out of votes, but I want this too:
MechAssault
And if I could vote for it, this:
Condemned: Criminal Origins
Blur, now it's Microsoft IP, surely it will come. Then follow it with a sequel. 😁🤟🏻
@awp69 it is, however it’s been delisted from the Xbox store. So unless you already own it you need to find a disc version.
It's such a long shot but I'm going to add Silent Hill Downpour to this list. It already is backwards compatible but Konami pulled it due to music licensing.
I dunno. It's still important to keep the game around. It might be a long shot to ask xbox to step in and help, but it is for the initiative...
Spartan: Total Warrior
Viking: Battle for Asgard
Rise of the Argonauts
All Pro Football 2K8 and NFL 2K5.
After Burner Climax
All Outruns
This is just incredible 💚
Bring back
Kung Fu Chaos - add crossover Xbox characters. Microsoft literally owns this IP
Brute Force
Blood Wake
99 nights
Lord of the Rings Conquest.
Dynasty Warriors games NCAA foootball 7-14 burnout 3 takedown
MechAssault 1+2
Project Snowblind
Brute Force
Test Drive Eve Of Destruction
Star Trek The Videogame (2013)
Project Gotham Racing 4
Fracture
The saboteur
The Last Remnant
Enchanted Arms
@awp69 But it's unavailable to buy on the Xbox store is what I was saying there's no use it being backwards compatible but I can't buy it and I not paying loads for a second hand physical one
I don't have a particular request but I would like if they made the program available on PC, especially for games that haven't had Steam versions like the older Dead or Alive games or older SEGA games.
Can everyone vote for dishwasher dead samurai, dishwasher vampire smiles, Charlie murder, dust an elysian tale and fez please 🥺 we need these games back they're ace 😭
Also there's a timer are we supposed to go vote every day 😂
As much as you can basically but there is some cracking suggestions in the thread.
The Spider-man games
Original COD
The delisted Konami arcade titles (Xevious, Track and Field)
The delisted Sega arcade titles (Afterburner, Sega Rally)
Hunted Demons Forge
The Cybertron Transformers games.
NFL 2k5
Jet set radio future
Batman origins
Dj hero
@ShepardCGM Underrated game. I just told my little brother about this game a week ago
Transformers Devastation was a smashing little PlatinumGames joint in the Bayonetta style which was faithful to the original cartoons and comics, and only got better with replays. I think I had it on disc second-hand for PS3. I could be wrong but I thought it was delisted years ago, something daft like a couple of years after release. Now that MS have Activision though... bring it back digitally and make it cheap, yeah? As Optimus Prime said, "Just remember, there's a thin line between being a hero and being a memory."
I think I've voted on that website before but I will go on it again to add some more votes
I would love the expanded Xbox ports of Fatal Frame/Project Zero 1 and 2 and Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing.
Deus Ex: Invisible War is one that comes to mind for me.
@ChopperCampbell The Orange Box is the ONE 360 disc I still have for this reason, everything else I’ve converted to digital.
Meanwhile, me and 185 other weirdoes voted for the OG Xbox game "Kung Fu Chaos". No idea if it holds up (or even ever were all that good) but it's the one game from my childhood I enjoyed that I haven't really been able to revisit any other place than on original hardware. Backwards-compatibility with a boost to internal rendering-resolution would be great.
Honestly I'm surprised we haven't gotten it yet. It was published by Microsoft themselves back in the day.
@Jenkinss Enchanted Arms is BC already. You need the original disc though since the game has been delisted 3 years ago :/
@Sindayl Oh that's good to know, I still have the disc. I wonder what goes on in the decision making to delist a game that has seemingly no licensed content like cars, music, or the IP itself.
WWE ALLSTARS is a must VOTE! You have to search it by only typing " ALL STARS " in two words. If you type " WWE" or " ALLSTARS" as one word it will not appear in the results.
BLUR is another MUST VOTE!
I turned on my 360 hoping to play XBLA Sega Rally Arcade. I purchased this game but cannot download it. I thought I could download delisted games I owned. My save files are intact but he game has been removed and does not appear in my downloads list. Anybody else have this problem?
So many suggestions that probably cannot happen due to licensing. My main request would be EA's Syndicate.
The 10 I voted for:
JSRF
Mercs 2
Singularity
The Saboteur
LotR Conquest
Gun
The Chronicles of Riddick 1&2
Blur
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Wolfenstein 2009
Both X-Men Legends games, both Cybertron games, Metal Arms, Chronicles of Riddick, I’m sure there are others but these are my top hopes!
How are people here not picking the most obvious choice???
SSX TRICKY!
Does anyone remember me?
