Here's what we uncovered: 🏭 Automation Is Inverting Network Demand: Repatriated manufacturing and automated fulfillment centers require 100G redundant fiber in unexpected places like rural industrial parks and West Texas. "Where demand is showing up is very different than historically it's been." 🤖 Machine Traffic Will Dwarf Human Usage: Machine-to-machine communication is exploding. Scott Kinka shared thisReflections headed into the weekend (and maybe a little executive advice): 🤔 Many of you know me primarily as a technologist and entrepreneur. But before that chapter of my life, I was a full-time musician. After a lot of years away from making music, I decided to put some music out into the world again. The song has been out for a few weeks now, and it has me thinking about something I probably should have understood a lot earlier in my career: When the work is your life, your life becomes work. The things we do outside of work aren't necessarily distractions from being a better leader. They make us better at what we do. They give us different perspectives, different ways of thinking, and sometimes just the chance to be a beginner again. So if you've got something you've always loved doing—or something you've been meaning to try—I’d encourage you to make some room for it. For me, that's music. 🎹 I'm incredibly grateful for the career I've had, for my family, and for the opportunities I've been given. And I'm finding that exploring this creative side of myself is making me a more humble leader, a better father, and, frankly, a happier person. Here's the breakdown: 🏢 Three Very Different Operations, One Mindset: Code-to-cash at Hewlett-Packard, shared services at Facebook, and CX at Disney, wildly different functions. Arun ran all three the same way: like a general manager, not a functional manager. 🎯 Outstanding Experience Isn't Enough On Its Own: The ambition was never just great CX for its own sake. It had to support the P&L, reducing cost on one side, driving cross-sell and upsell on the other. 🚫 Don't Run Your Function as a Silo: Arun's advice to every operator listening, no matter the size of their company: "Do not approach operations as a pure function, supply chain, CX, whatever that might be. Become a business leader." The takeaway for mid-market leaders: you don't need Disney's scale to apply this.
