A few weeks ago, I officially joined Basis Set Ventures as an investing partner. I’ve always admired Xuezhao Lan and the Basis Set Ventures crew for their fresh approach to investing and their vision of building the future of work. I’m thrilled to join and be a part of the team that finds, nurtures, and grows the next set of great companies. https://lnkd.in/g68JXMM

Neil Joglekar liked thisNeil Joglekar liked thisFriends, as we shared on the earnings call a couple weeks ago, I’ll be wrapping up at Figma at the end of this month. The past several years here have been the experience of a lifetime. We’ve had some incredible wins...so many Configs, doubling our product lineup, transitioning to a public company, building a strong growth motion, expanding our support and operations function, steering this incredible brand and community, and continually exploring new ways for our customers to build and express themselves, to name a few. But through it all, what has inspired me most is how Figmates put customers and community at the core of everything they do. That relentless focus drives the roadmap, shapes experiences within and around Figma’s products, and feeds the marketing and support motions. It will keep being Figma’s north star. This company could not be in better hands with Nairi Tashjian Hourdajian, who is stepping in as CMO, and has steered the brand and community for the past 6 years. I am so grateful to Dylan Field for bringing me on the ride of a lifetime. My heart is full, and I will continue to be Figma’s cheerleader (and karaoke singer) from afar. More to come on what’s next for me soon.

Neil Joglekar liked thisNeil Joglekar liked thisWith a recent update to my LinkedIn profile, I thought it would be a good opportunity to introduce Odyssey Solar to those in my network who may not be familiar with what we do. Odyssey Solar was founded with a simple goal: to help renewable energy companies build and operate stronger businesses. Since then, we've had the opportunity to support developers, asset owners, operators, EPCs, and service providers across the solar industry through operations, performance engineering, project management, finance & accounting, and monitoring services. I'm grateful for the trust our customers and partners have placed in us, and excited about what lies ahead as we continue to expand our capabilities and support the energy transition. Thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey. If you'd like to learn more about Odyssey Solar or explore ways we might work together, I'd welcome the conversation.

Neil Joglekar liked thisNeil Joglekar liked thisFriday was a very special day for our family, as we got to celebrate my father Shanker Trivedi’s 17 year chapter at NVIDIA. There are “epic run”s. Then there’s: 0 to $200B of revenue as he started and built their enterprise and datacenter business. $8B to $4.5 trillion in market cap. From modestly known chip company to the most valuable company on Planet Earth. These are the outputs. The inputs were extraordinarily hard work, creativity, hiring great people, nurturing a formidable culture, and building a GTM strategy and engine that could scale to these levels. I’ll share two quotes that stand out to me after hearing Jensen Huang and Jay Puri’s speeches, and meeting hundreds of NVIDIAns with stories about him: “His legacy will live on for generations” -Jensen, CEO “Did you know that NVIDIA is the largest company in the world?” -Shreya, 4 year old granddaughter, to her preschool teacher Papa, I’m now excited to see how you can apply all the learnings to the next chapter, in supporting more founders and teams. In your words, “Keep Going” 😊

Payroll is one of the most critical, complex, and opaque systems for small businesses, so the chance to work with a team that’s already done so much to take the pain out of payroll was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. I’m incredibly honored to help push it even further as we use AI to give SMB’s real superpowers. This new chapter marks the end to the previous one at Google. I am deeply grateful for the amazing leaders and mentors who shaped my growth there. The list is too long to type out, but a special thanks to Jonathan Brunsman, Bruno Possas, Hila Becker, and Barine Tee for the impact you had on my journey. Energized and excited for what’s ahead!

His teams are energized and execute with speed. Everyone around him is laser-focused on innovation. More than anything else, he leads with respect - he respects our users and responds to them directly on social media, he respects his employees at all levels, acknowledges their opinions and even invites them into key conversations, and he respects the opportunity to be working on transformative technology that will help billions of people. I'm so lucky to work for Josh, and happy that CNBC was able to hear from more than a dozen Googlers who have worked closely with him and feel similarly. I’m thrilled to share Earthshot Ventures most recent investment, Unlimited Industries! Unlimited is an AI-native construction company that both designs and builds. Its platform can generate and evaluate hundreds of thousands of design configurations in parallel, automatically identifying optimal layouts for cost, safety, and performance before construction begins. Why did we invest? Solving a real need we know well: Over the last decade, we have worked with hundreds of companies that are ready to deploy their technology, but struggle with slow construction timelines and cost overruns. Unlimited makes it feasible for emerging infrastructure companies to bring projects to life reliably and efficiently. Massive market potential: The EPC market is ~$800B. While this entire market is not addressable from day one, early adopters will pave the way for the mass market, enabling massive possible scale over time. Exceptional team: The company is led by Alex Modon, a repeat founder and multidisciplinary engineer. To accelerate the company, Alex teamed up with Tara Viswanathan and Jordan Stern, who previously built and scaled Rupa Health as the founder/CEO and first teammate respectively, from zero to millions in revenue before its successful nine figure acquisition in 2024. Software is eating the world, and AI will eat engineering: Software engineering is increasingly being augmented and automated by AI, aided by large repositories of coding data like Github. Other engineering disciplines will be transformed over time as analogous data sets are compiled and software encodes the operating principles of the real world. Companies that can create proprietary datasets, like Unlimited’s burgeoning catalogue of projects, will gain defensibility through data moats. Lastly, since a good portion of my network here consists of founders who could be customers of Unlimited and their investors, I’d be remiss if I didn’t say - hit me up if you’d like to connect with Unlimited to deliver your next project on time, on budget! Welcome to the Earthshot portfolio, Unlimited!

Even the most skeptical voices are starting to acknowledge the value of LLM generated code. Not as a replacement for deep expertise, but as a practical tool for acceleration, exploration, and iteration. When someone as famously disciplined about code quality as Linus Torvalds publicly acknowledges that AI generated code can be useful, it signals a shift worth paying attention to. The takeaway is not that AI writes better software than humans, but that good engineers are learning where and how these tools create leverage. https://lnkd.in/eFbNFqYN

Last year’s Series A was a milestone, but it wasn’t a stopping point. As proof that we’ve only been moving faster than before, I’m excited to share that Numeric raised a $51M Series B, led by investors like IVP, Menlo Ventures, Founders Fund, and more. Over the past year, we've launched AI-powered flux analysis that accountants actually trust, built out cash management tooling, and worked with some of the best finance teams in the industry. This raise funds what’s next: more AI agent capabilities, building a strong finance data layer, and expanding the team. If you're interested in working on hard problems in finance infrastructure, let's talk. More on the round: https://lnkd.in/gvkWqiDx

We just did a big analysis of Clay's 10,000 monthly support tickets. If you're running a support team, here's what you need to know: A few weeks ago, George Dilthey (Head of Support), went to Karan Parekh with a problem, "Hey, the org is growing really fast. We're hiring all these support people, but they still feel underwater. Help me figure out what's going on." The obvious answer? Hire more people. But candidly, we hadn't really studied the data yet. The thing we needed to know first was, how are we getting through ticket volumes? When are they coming in? What time of the day? From what geography? Then once we had that data, we had to go back to first principles: What is the actual point of support? Of course, I want to give our customers an excellent experience. I want it to be world-class. I want it to solve their problem quickly and expediently. But how would you define expediently? Is it zero wait-times? 10 minutes? 60 minutes? In this video, Karan and I break down: - The bimodal curve we discovered -- tickets aren't flat, there's a pattern you can plan for - Why Thursday-Friday have half the volume of Monday-Wednesday (and what we do with that capacity) - How to staff for sub-1 hour response times without having people idle most of the day - Our weekend coverage strategy (that doesn't burn people out and eliminates the Monday morning queue) - What our support team actually does during low-volume periods If your support team feels underwater, watch below 👇 PS I don't know why the team chose a thumbnail where my eyes are closed 🙈

I’ve learned the hard way: hustle doesn’t beat ambiguity—systems do. When I’m shipping in high-ambiguity environments (new product, shifting requirements, multiple stakeholders), I’ve found that “working harder” rarely fixes the chaos. What does help is treating delivery as three lightweight systems that reinforce each other: 1) Scope system (make the outcome explicit) A short PRD that answers: what problem are we solving, for whom, and how will we know it worked? If the success metric isn’t written down, you end up debating opinions instead of iterating on evidence. 2) Execution system (make progress cheap) A single source of truth backlog with epics → small tickets → clear acceptance criteria. My rule: if it isn’t in the backlog with an owner and a date/sprint, it doesn’t exist. That’s how you avoid “verbal tasks” and quiet drops across parallel workstreams. 3) Quality system (make “done” real) “Done” isn’t “merged.” It’s: acceptance criteria met, edge cases considered, observability in place, and a clear path for rollback/triage if something goes sideways. Quality gates don’t slow teams down—lack of them does, because rework and production thrash are the real velocity killers. None of these systems are heavy. But together, they turn ambiguity into a repeatable loop: define → ship → observe → learn. Curious: what’s the simplest system you’ve seen that keeps teams shipping without losing quality?
