There’s something underrated about throwing early-career engineers into a real operating environment instead of carefully sandboxing them away from impact. At Hadrian, that means: - software talking directly to machines - factories that behave more like distributed systems - shipping code that eventually helps build rockets, satellites, aircraft, and defense systems The best interns I’ve worked with never acted like “interns.” They acted like builders who just need context, trust, and hard problems to chase. I also appreciate that interns tend to ask the dangerous questions. “Why do we do it this way?” “Why is this manual?” “Why are these two systems disconnected?” “Why does this process exist at all?” If you want to work on automation, manufacturing, robotics, AI systems, infrastructure, or software that touches the physical world… we’re hiring. 🚀

Nathan Disidore liked thisNathan Disidore liked thisWe got the whole Ona (formerly Gitpod) together in Portugal last week. We’re a remote-first company, but twice a year we all meet in person. It’s always worth it. You can feel the energy shift when everyone’s in the same room. Ideas move faster, and so does trust! Every morning we did an engineering stand-up. The kind I haven’t done in almost ten years. Mentally, it took me back to getting the Tube at 7 a.m every day to do the same. Remote work has changed how I think about focus and collaboration. Being together again felt great — but I don’t miss the commute and see huge value in how the flexibility we give drives great outcomes. Remote-first doesn’t mean connection-last. It just means being intentional about when and why you gather. I still believe remote work is one of the great equalizers. It opens doors for talent that geography used to close. Some of our most talented engineers live in places we’ll never have offices, and I’m so glad to have them with us. Lately I’ve noticed more startups going back to the office, and I can understand why. However, the best ideas I’ve ever seen didn’t come from proximity - they came from alignment and purpose which I believe can be built from anywhere.

This was the last big feature I managed and worked on in Malwarebytes for Windows. It's been available for a couple of months already but finally getting some publicity. Deleting files is stupidly easy. So easy in fact that they aren't really deleted; the data is still present. The file doesn't go away until some other file needs the same space. There are many un-delete tools out there. We developed a plan for securely erasing files by re-writing them in different ways and then telling Windows to delete the directory entry. This means that any un-delete tool will never get to see your original data, only the random patterns Malwarebytes File Shredder puts in its place before "deleting" the file. It's not rocket science - lots of utilities do this - but by putting it in Malwarebytes, it's another tool in the ever-expanding set of features to protect your privacy and identity. And it's a free tool; part of Malwarebytes that does not require a subscription or trial. Probably in the future, there might be enhancements or extensions that are linked to a subscription, but the core file shredder is free and available right now at https://malwarebytes.com.
