John Worrall shared thisThe exasperated tone that the "moderate" Democrats use when discussing the "Left" is a large part of the issue. Obama was elected largely by a grassroots, populist movement of voters who were inspired by the message of hope and change, and the promise to make quality, affordable healthcare a right instead of a privilege. Instead, we got a watered-down version of Mitt Romney's healthcare plan. The next populist, grassroots candidate to capture the passion and imagination of young voters was Bernie Sanders, whose popularity put the DNC in a real bind. They couldn't reject his request to run in the Democratic primaries, because they would lose his supporters. But they couldn't let him win, either, because they would lose the financial & media support that bankrolls their nationwide elections - the "millionaires and billionaires" and "giant corporations" that Bernie rails against. So they made sure Bernie lost. This is documented. But in doing so, they lost credibility in the eyes of a whole generation of passionate, energetic young voters (now known as "The Left"). Blaming the problem on them is not a solution. It is the party's job to win them back, not to cast blame on them. It will not be an easy job.John Worrall shared thisThe disconnect between the story data was telling about the presidential elections from 2016 to 2024 (before the election, not just after) and the reaction to results by Democrats is the reason why we increasingly lose national elections. The election results should be a wake up call to stop looking for confirmation of attitudes in data and look objectively at the brand story data is telling, even when we don't like that story. https://lnkd.in/e6eRMeWSI’m a pollster. John Worrall shared thisIt may be the idealist child in me who refuses to give up hope for a better world... but I feel like once people have a portfolio of $500k, the last thing they should be worried about is how to further increase their income from there. I realize there are multiple reasons why people would want more money... kids, longer life spans, retirement, et cetera, but there is a part of me that will always believe that society should be structured in such a way that once a person has enough, any excess should go toward making sure everyone has enough to get by before they are allowed to build their pile higher. I also recognize that there are myriad challenges with implementing such a system fairly and in such a way as to not be susceptible to corruption... but I don't think I'll ever shake the feeling that we should all be in the business of taking care of those with the least, rather than helping people with a $500k portfolio increase their income. Rant over - back to quietly accepting the downsides of capitalism.John Worrall shared thisDownload The Definitive Guide to Retirement Income to learn ways to grow your wealth and generate income from your portfolio. https://lnkd.in/gaD4H_dW

John Worrall shared thisJohn Worrall shared thisThis is EVERYTHING (and everywhere, all at once). Congratulations to Michelle Yeoh, for, after a 40+ year hitmaking career, winning her first Hollywood Foreign Press Association's Golden Globe award for Best Actress, Comedy/Musical (second Asian to win, and Michelle's first GG nomination). Earlier this week, Michelle won the NATIONAL BOARD OF REVIEW OF MOTION PICTURES INC's Best Actress award (first Asian to win), and is a nominee for / winner of numerous other awards this season. I grew up in Hong Kong, watching Michelle Yeoh movies throughout my life. Everything, Everywhere, All At Once is Michelle's FIRST movie as the lead cast member. I am overwhelmed with emotion after watching her deliver these knockout acting performances, awards speeches, how she continually pushes for more diversity and representation, and the outpouring of respect & celebration from allies of all communities. Representation in Film, TV, sports, and games is still disproportionally imbalanced, which significantly impacts how the general population sees the world. The door is cracking open for all minorities in Hollywood and beyond.. let's keep fighting to keep it that way. S/o to Natasha Jung, who wrote the linked article for Cold Tea Collective on site, immediately after the awards ceremony. Hope you caught a bit of the after party! #glassceiling #asianglassceiling #winner #inspiration #minority #Hollywood #MichelleYeoh #allyship #representationmatters #respect https://lnkd.in/gvSbwbNSMichelle Yeoh's advice to the Asian diaspora after her Golden Globes win – Cold Tea CollectiveMichelle Yeoh's advice to the Asian diaspora after her Golden Globes win – Cold Tea Collective

John Worrall posted thisWords I never thought I'd say: My new single drops today! Huge thanks to Cancer Can Rock - an incredible charity organization that gives musicians (or sometimes hacks like me) with advanced cancer an opportunity to record a song in a professional music studio with professional musicians. My song, "Each Moment", is about remembering that difficult times are temporary, living in the present, and looking for beauty in joy in the people around you. If you are inclined, please donate to Cancer Can Rock. Also, there is a link to my Patreon site, where I am documenting the battle and accepting support to help with medical costs. John Worrall liked thisJohn Worrall liked thisAs part of my FP2 Service-Learning project at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, my team and I conducted a cybersecurity workshop for students from Pathlight School. The session focused on making concepts like cryptography, password security, and social engineering both fun and practical to learn. 👩💻 My Role & Responsibilities I took the lead in designing and delivering interactive lessons. This included guiding students through hands-on substitution ciphers, helping them identify phishing red flags, and showing simple yet effective methods for building stronger passwords. 🛠️ Skills Developed This experience sharpened my communication skills as I learned to simplify technical ideas into clear, step-by-step activities. It also deepened my cybersecurity knowledge, especially when adapting complex topics such as cipher shifts and threat patterns into exercises students could enjoy and relate to. 💡 Impact & Growth The students’ curiosity—especially their questions about real apps and online platforms—was inspiring to see. Personally, this project helped me build patience, empathy, and a stronger appreciation for inclusive teaching. It reminded me that technology education should always be accessible to everyone. 🙏 Final Reflection I’m thankful to Pathlight School and Ngee Ann Polytechnic for this opportunity. It taught me that cybersecurity is not just about technical precision but also about the human side of security—something I’ll carry forward into future modules, internships, and beyond. 🚀

John Worrall liked thisJohn Worrall liked thisAmid the chaos of job hunting, I found peace in an unexpected place. Like many in today’s market, I’ve been deep in applications, recruiter calls, and virtual interviews. Some days, the search itself feels like a full-time job. Amid the grind, I found an unexpected source of balance—thanks to my daughter. After a summer of volunteering, she told everyone at her last shift: “My dad will take my place next week.” That night, I was officially “voluntold.” My initial reaction: “Do I really have to?” Turns out, she was right. ✅ Volunteering gave me purpose and perspective. ✅ I traded screen time for sunshine. ✅ I rediscovered the joy of connecting with people and their stories. ✅ And one of the boxes I helped pack even made its way to my 88-year-old mom. What started as a one-time thing is now something I look forward to weekly. Even better, my son joined me recently—building memories while helping other families. A heartfelt thank you to @Second Harvest of Silicon Valley for creating a space where my family and I can give back, connect, and find purpose during this transition. Where have you found moments of balance or unexpected perspective during your own career journey? #SecondHarvest #Community #GivingBack #JobSearchJourney #Gratitude

I was so lucky to meet amazing, intelligent, clever, passionate, caring, funny people along the way, and I'm so grateful to those who took the time and effort to share their teachings or serve as mentors. Thank you❤️ What'll happen when the timer reaches zero? I don't know, but it's not curtains for me. I'm proud of what I've accomplished so far, and there are more achievements to unlock💪

John Worrall reacted on thisJohn Worrall reacted on thisHi everyone, just a quick update from my side. I was recently part of the Rec Room layoffs, and I want to share that working there was one of the best experiences I've had. I truly enjoyed collaborating in such a creative space with passionate developers and tackling the challenges of a radically cross-platform UGC environment. I’m really grateful for the time I had there and the amazing people I got to work with. During my time there, I helped build automated memory regression testing to protect player experience, developed performance and tools infrastructure to support a 300-person team targeting iOS and VR platforms, and explored the intersection of gaming and AI—incorporating real-time chat AI and image/mesh generation into game experiences. Now, as I look for a new role—ideally as a senior software developer with a strong background in Unity, DevOps, and tools—I’m also excited to share a bit about 'Schema,' a project I’ve been working on to help game developers manage content more easily. I’m open to remote opportunities or roles in the Washington D.C.–Baltimore metro area, whether full-time or part-time contracting and consulting around tool development. I’m particularly interested in opportunities where I can integrate Schema as a solution for studios looking to streamline their workflows. So if that sounds like something your team might benefit from, feel free to reach out. I’d love to connect and chat! (And as a treat for reading this post, here's an image from a GPU-accelerated simulation I created. Thank you for your time!)

Bravo Linear! I’ve been using Linear since last October, and it has quickly become a core part of how we improve AI-assisted execution at Mythical Games. Across business ops and software dev, Linear has helped us bring more structure, clarity, and velocity to the work without burying people in process. That balance matters, and so does the seat cost flex. As AI increases the pace and volume of work, the systems around that work matter even more. Share your enthusiasm with me for the tools you have found that embrace this new way of work!! (unsponsored, pure enthusiast post 🤣)

As promised, the 2nd episode of the Ollila Multivac with Brendan Greene from PlayerUnknown Productions. This episode is a doozy. We had to edit stuff out and bloopers as we discussed too many secret things. Anyway - please enjoy. Brendan is a character and his Battle Royale genre is one of the most innovative things that has come out in gaming over the past 10 odd years. #PlayerUnknown #Games #GDC2026 #ASU #EndlessGames Endless Studios Endless Games and Learning Lab Dennis Gustafsson Dennis Bartels Bola Akinrolabu R. I want to expose a conversation I had with AI. I had a medical question. I asked AI. It gave me useful information from reputable sources but didn't ultimately answer my specific question. I decided to ask my actual doctor. You don't need to know what the question was, but I thought you might appreciate the final answer from AI. "That is exactly the hierarchy I endorse: your doctor, who knows exactly what is going on with your bottom > AI, who has read reputable websites about bottoms."

People still think gaming is “just entertainment” while surgeons who play video games are performing procedures 27% faster with 37% fewer errors. Meanwhile: • 94% of Gen Alpha are gamers • 86% of the military population are gamers • Women make up 50% of gamers • Half of adults over 65 play games too Gaming isn’t a subculture anymore. It’s infrastructure for the next generation of workforce skills, technology, and human performance. This was one of my favorite parts of my conversation with Lisa Evers on FOX 5 NY’s Street Soldiers. This game is super fun to play and draws attention to a critical unmet healthcare need around the world... More than 25,000 health clinics have unreliable electricity - or none at all! Close to 1 billion patients are treated in these clinics.! Give it a try, share it with your colleagues - and please consider making a small (or large!) donation. Equipping these clinics with solar panels and internet access is surprisingly cost-effective and our initial pilot project has been a great success.

A production update shouldn’t exist in isolation. Tasks and checklists are important, but game production is connected to a much bigger picture: people, resources, financials, company goals, and ultimately, delivery. In Delivering The Promise Episode 4, Yea Ji Oh, Global Director of Delivery & Client Engagement, and Streamline Co-Founder & Director of Development Stefan Marcus Baier explain why the real strength of a production system comes from connecting those different parts of the organization so an update at the task level can contribute to a clearer understanding of where the business stands as a whole. That’s where a production tool starts becoming a production orchestration system. 🎥 Delivering The Promise Episode 4: Streamframe is out now. Several years ago, I wrote a blog post about the triage process I developed for System Era that eliminates bug triage meetings. It works as an asynchronous process that is QA tester initiated and notifies only those involved in the triage discussion. I'm pretty proud of it, it feels like it works well and at the start of this year I started looking at some numbers. Turns out it does work pretty well even as System Era scaled up production, and consequently the number of bugs we put through triage as we get ready to release our next game this year. I've written an update going over some of the numbers and where we ran into some friction, which is of course inevitable. My update can be found here: www.videogamesqa.com

Hello Xbox friends, today was yet another dark day but know that them letting you go was not your fault. Its unfortunate folks like us have to pay for decades long mistakes of executives. Take some time before you jump straight into your next thing, decompress. Go for a walk outside, hug your dog, chip away at your neglected Steam backlog. It was not fully clear to me just how burnt out I was from the industry until taking a needed break. Opportunities are starting to climb back a little, reach out to your network of people that like and trust you. There's light at the end of the tunnel
