Davang Shah posted thisThe Debate, Decide, Unite framework for moving with speed I’ve seen a lot of teams struggle to move with the speed that’s truly necessary. Often, it isn't for lack of effort—things just slow down when there’s a lack of clarity on the problem or when folks simply can’t get aligned on the path forward. When I encounter these situations now, I lean on a simple framework: Debate, Decide, Unite. First, ensure the right people have the floor to debate and share their perspectives. Then, be clear on who the decision-maker is and have them make the call. Finally, no matter the outcome, the entire team must unite behind that decision as if it were their own. Ensure the right people have the opportunity to debate the topic/issue, share their perspective. Be clear as to who the decision maker is and have them own the decision based on the perspectives shared. No matter what the call, unite behind the decision as if it was your own, without hesitation. The time it takes might vary based on the ramifications of the choice, but having that clarity on roles and total commitment to the final decision is a complete game changer for any team.

Davang Shah posted thisThe 70/30 rule for career transitions I've connected with a lot of folks looking at what their next career play might be. Of course, you want to be intentional about the criteria you use to evaluate the next role you may take, this is foundational. Once you've done that, focus on roles that set you up for success leveraging the 70/30 rule. Find roles where 70% of what you'll do is work you've done before and 30% is a stretch. It's a good way to ensure you can contribute meaningfully but also still grow and develop. I think the %'s change based on the stage you are at in your career, but it's a good guidepost to help along the way.

Tatiana Semina definitely a challenge I've run into as well, well said. I think the key is the upfront work, defining the problem, who the RAPID is, and keeping the conversation focused from the get go helps.

Muhammad Baig I totally agree. You have to stop it before it spirals. Starts with being clear upfront who the voices are that will shape the decision and who the decider is. Having clarity means there is no need to go back and debate it. Teams often waste so much time on this, it's a real challenge that should be addressed with upfront communication.

First rough prototypes, then the infrastructure underneath to make the answers hold up, then demo after demo with customers to find out where it actually earned their trust and where it didn't. The question we kept circling was simple to ask and hard to answer: what does a great agentic experience actually look like for B2B marketing analytics? - How do we give the agent each customer's unique GTM context? - How do we keep definitions and calculations consistent, no matter who's asking or how? - How does the customer verify an answer, so they can actually trust it instead of taking it on faith? Because that's the real problem. In this space the honest answer has always been buried in a black box, and AI mostly just made the guessing faster and more confident. We wanted something simple to operate that still earns the level of trust B2B marketers deserve. Today we're launching our answer. My team and I packed it with data, charts, and commentary on what was happening around the world. Most weeks: silence. Every so often, a probing question would come back about a specific metric or market. Or, better, a note congratulating us on a strong quarter. Those reports taught me a lot about discipline and accountability. No matter where I was in the world, I sent that report. Tim expected his leaders to know their businesses cold. Whenever I put anything in front of him, I needed to understand not just the numbers, but what was driving them and what we were doing about it. His expectations made me a much better leader. On my last day at Apple, Tim and I had a 10-minute 1:1 scheduled. We talked for 30. Reflecting on my 21 years at the company, he told me my greatest accomplishment wasn’t helping build a $1 trillion App Store ecosystem or helping scale the business to more than one billion customers. It was the team I had built and the leaders I had developed who were ready to step up after I left. That meant the world to me. We took this photo together right after that conversation. Today is Tim’s last day as CEO of Apple. Much has been written about what he and the company accomplished under his leadership. But perhaps his greatest legacy is the one he taught me to value: the people he developed, the culture he shaped, and the leaders ready to carry it forward. I’ll always be grateful I got to be a part of it.
