Ashley Pallarito shared thisThe Internet is inherently unreliable 🫠 Things break all the time: cables get cut, bogus routes get advertised, routers crash. And the public Internet optimizes for cost and policy, not speed or reliability — like a GPS that knows road ownership but not live traffic🚦 TL;DR = Internet weather is unpredictable, but we have systems to route around bad weather…wanna come work on them with me? ☔ We're looking for Senior Software Engineers who like solving problems at a massive scale (like, 20% of the Internet kind of scale 😅): https://lnkd.in/gtStvvMGSoftware Engineer, Network Performance & Reliability (Argo)Software Engineer, Network Performance & Reliability (Argo)

Ashley Pallarito reposted thisAshley Pallarito reposted thisit's me again, emerging from linkedin hibernation with fun news: my team is expanding and I have 2 open positions! if you are interested, links are below! CNI (Cloudflare Network Interconnect) is a great opportunity for someone who wants to help spearhead the future of infrastructure operations from a customer lens: we're building a big network that customers can plug into, let's make it easy, fast, and painless for everyone. This is at the core of what Cloudflare is about: connecting networks together (literally), so it's a good opportunity to help build out network services and infrastructure in a scalable and reliable way (ugh way too many buzzwords but you get it). Spectrum is a product with a lot of potential: a protocol-level proxy can be used for so many things and it's a great, low-overhead way to get near-comprehensive network protection easily. We need someone who can take this thing to the moon and make it easier than ever to make their applications secure. We're looking for someone more junior who can jump in, roll up their sleeves, and impose their will on a product looking for ambition and vision. Plus our team is pretty rad if I do say so myself. So if you want to join a cool team with cool people doing cool things, well everyone else on the team is pretty cool and you have to suffer me but some would say that's a fair tradeoff. Here are the links to apply: CNI: https://lnkd.in/erGBpqXs Spectrum: https://lnkd.in/eJBa2azm

Ashley Pallarito shared thisOur blog is live! 🎉 This was a long time in the making, and I'm so grateful for the contributions of all the engineers and stakeholders who helped us drive this forward 🙏 If you have some IP prefixes lying around (looking at you IPv6...), come test our new flow! Customers kept asking us for autonomy in their IP address management, and we are committed to giving y'all control and flexibility with your network assets. 🎛️ Keep an eye out for self-serve BYOIP onboarding in the Cloudflare dashboard coming soon! 🔜Ashley Pallarito shared thisAnnouncing a new self-serve API for Bring Your Own IP (BYOIP), giving customers unprecedented control and flexibility to onboard, manage, and use their own IP prefixes with Cloudflare's services. https://cfl.re/4p1yuBi

Ashley Pallarito reposted thisAshley Pallarito reposted thisA Halloween #BGP story by Bryton Herdes, June Slater, and yours truly. We explored in detail how BGP routes may get stuck and affect traffic. In short, withdrawing a more specific prefix triggers path hunting may lead to stuck routes that causes traffic issues. We also discussed how we can address this issue toward the end. https://lnkd.in/gwA8H4jj
