“We went from ‘This is not a doable scenario’ to ‘This is a shining star of our volunteer program.’” This is what Kate Laepple Hertzog, Manager of Community Impact at Cencora (formerly AmerisourceBergen), a Fortune 10 company with 46,000+ employees worldwide, has to say about their partnership with Visit.org. Engaging frontline employees, specifically distribution center teams, has been a persistent challenge for many of our corporate partners. Traditional volunteer models often don't fit the reality of fast-paced, physically demanding, and time-bound work where breaks and access to technology are limited. In fact, we have been experimenting and iterating with many of our corporate partners to find the right way for each of them to engage their vastly different teams and needs. We're thrilled Cencora has collaborated with us to design a solution for their distribution center employees. Its resounding success is a powerful example of what’s possible when we come together as partners to innovate and refine ideas. We're excited to welcome Melissa Robinson to the speaker lineup for September's Virtual Summit! Melissa will be joining Michal Alter for a conversation about how Amazon has scaled its employee-led volunteer programs. When we talk driving business value through impact initiatives, volunteering is one of those key pillars that can move the needle. We're looking forward to learning from Melissa's experience in a couple of short months.

How does your company define skills-based volunteering (SBV)? We’ve seen this term take on a lot of different meanings in the CSR space, including: 🔘 Pro bono project work Scoped, multi-day or multi-week engagements. Often asynchronous, led by individuals or expert teams to deliver a defined output. 🔘 Live mentoring & sessions Real-time, short-form, 1:1 or group engagements (e.g., mentoring, mock interviews, nonprofit brainstorms). Typically 1–2 hours, with no long-term follow-up. 🔘 A Mix of Both Offering multiple formats depending on employee availability and nonprofit needs. 🔘 Still Defining Currently exploring what SBV looks like in our organization. Vote and let us know in the comments how you’re thinking about skills-based volunteering in 2025. #SkillsBasedVolunteering #CSR #EmployeeEngagement #SocialImpact #VisitDotOrg Taproot Foundation Common Impact Benevity Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship

New speaker added to the lineup for Social Impact World's Virtual Summit coming up in a couple of months. Melissa Robinson will be joining Michal Alter for a conversation about how Amazon scaled its employee-led volunteer programs. Why I'm looking forward to this session: We know volunteering drives business value by boosting employee engagement. With a workforce as massive as Amazon’s, I'm looking forward to hearing how Melissa and her team have been able to use volunteering as an employee engagement tool and scale it across the company.

This insightful piece from The Blackbaud Giving Fund highlights the challenges nonprofits face in creating corporate volunteer experiences that are meaningful, scalable, and sustainable. At Visit.org, we are familiar with these challenges, which is why we took the time to develop the most nonprofit-centered volunteer method possible. This method ensures that each Visit.org experience delivers a positive ROI for our nonprofit partners and a high-quality, white-glove experience for every volunteer team, so they’re inspired to continue engaging with these nonprofits long term. More than offering volunteer experiences, we build pathways to real connection among team members and within communities. And we do this in 100+ countries around the globe. Behind every STEM kit packed is a community that believes in a child’s potential. The inspiring team at our incredible corporate partner Stryker in 📍Salt Lake City assembled STEM kits paired with heartfelt notes of encouragement to spark curiosity and confidence in the next generation of scientists and engineers. We’re grateful and proud to have been a part of such a meaningful impact 💜 #stryker #socialimpact #volunteering #visitdotorg #employeeengagement
Recently, my teammates in Salt Lake City partnered with Visit.org for a hands-on volunteer event focused on sparking curiosity through STEM. Together, they assembled STEM kits filled with lab coats, safety glasses, experiments, bookmarks and more, designed to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers and innovators. Each kit also included a handwritten note of encouragement from our volunteers, turning a simple package into a meaningful experience for the kids who receive them. I’m proud to be part of a team that puts learning, creativity and purpose into action. Ready to join a team that invests in the next generation of innovators? Explore open roles at Stryker today. “Once you see the outcomes and the results, and you see how many people are helped and benefitting, you want to keep on doing it because it’s so simple.” — Dolores Huerta, Chicano civil rights leader Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15) is a time to honor the rich histories, cultures, and lasting contributions of Hispanic and Latinx communities by focusing on actionable outcomes and results. Participate in this important observation by supporting local communities, celebrating culture, and deepening understanding through Visit.org experiences. Here are some team experiences to book today: 🤝 Interact with Hispanic and Latinx Refugees Employees are engaging in powerful conversations with individuals who’ve experienced displacement, gaining deeper empathy and insight into the refugee experience. 💃 Engage with Hispanic and Latinx Artistry Teams are enjoying the creative brilliance of Latinx performers and artists, examining how art expresses identity, resilience, and joy. 🍳 Cook Mexican Dishes to Support Food-Insecure Families Participants are stepping into the kitchen to prepare traditional Mexican meals while supporting local families experiencing food insecurity. #HispanicHeritageMonth #LatinxHeritage #EmployeeEngagement #SocialImpact #CulturalCelebration

Still recovering from a week filled with strategy, big ideas, and more than a few happy tears. Last week, our Corporate Impact Managers gathered for three days of planning, reflection, and momentum. We dug into what sets Visit.org apart, and how we continue to raise the bar for what corporate social impact can look like when the programming is built for scale and the impact is built to last. We aligned around: ✔️ Partnering with nonprofits in ways that prioritize their needs, not just optics ✔️ Delivering consistent, high-quality experiences across the globe ✔️ Helping CSR teams activate programs that go beyond participation and drive lasting outcomes We closed the week with a Project in a Box experience, assembling teddy bears for local children in a NYC family shelter, bringing comfort, connection, and a few unexpected tears along the way. A meaningful end to a week grounded in purpose, partnership, and human connection. Alice Ping - Shiseido | Nathaniel Kelliehan - Ralph Lauren | Isabella M.
