Fourteen years ago, Lyft set out with a mission to improve people’s lives with the world’s best transportation. While a lot has changed since then, the heart of that mission continues to show up in how we serve people and communities. For our 14th Birthday Week, we celebrated by giving team members opportunities to experience the many small moments that keep Lyft moving. Through our Birthday Passport Challenge, team members completed 14 “stops” focused on serving and connecting and supporting our communities. Brian Aquart, Founder & President of Kingswood Forest, joined us for “Your Story Moves the World,” a conversation about recognizing the experiences that shape us and the value each person brings to their work. And at Birthday Link Ups across our offices, team members wrote notes of appreciation to drivers and packed back-to-school kits for young people supported by Covenant House International in New York City, San Francisco, and Toronto. Every stop has shaped Lyft’s journey. Fourteen years in, we’re just getting started.

I saw The Odyssey last week. The theater was packed. We all gasped at the Cyclops, chuckled at Circe's powers, marveled the Sirens' song, jumped when Scylla grabbed for Odysseus' men. It was a vivid reminder of the power of shared experiences-- and how much work people are willing to do to have them. What do I mean? In the first two weeks Lyft riders traveled over *100,000 miles* to see The Odyssey in theaters-- including some traveling more than 80 miles. And clearly people loved Christopher Nolan's decision to film in IMAX: the number of people who saw a movie on an 80-foot-wide screen rose by 79% from June. Hope you enjoyed the movie, the shared experience, and the ride.

A few weeks ago, I had a 50-minute Lyft ride from East Village to LaGuardia that stuck with me. After two days of an impactful conference and engaging meetings in NYC, I was the kind of tired where you just want a moment to yourself, you know? A chance to regather. But my Lyft driver Hammad had other ideas. He engaged. And so did I. We talked about life, injuries, Mixed Martial Arts, family, the economy. There was an age gap between us, but we talked like we'd known each other forever. He mentioned feeling "stuck" driving, but never once complained. He lit up talking about the people he meets. The ride flew by. What would've been just another airport run became something actually memorable. Listening. Being present. Not checking out when it would be easy to check out. But Hammad did more than that. He takes his situation and sees the best in it. He could just drive. Instead, he shows up, engages in real conversations, and finds meaning in meeting people. That's what made his day better. That's what made mine too. I know there are some great taxi stories out there. Tell me about your best taxi / rideshare conversation.

Today, Lyft turns 14. 🎉 A lot has changed since John Zimmer and Logan Green founded the company in 2012. Remember all the pink carstaches? This year Lyft will deliver a billion rides in thousands of cities across six continents, offering a mix of rideshare, taxis, private hire vehicles, executive chauffeur services, car sharing, bikes, and scooters. Always serving and connecting, always with joy. Thank you to the incredible drivers, loyal riders, and super-talented team who have led the charge. It's great to be here, and the best is yet to come. I've loved looking at old photos today. We want to hear from you: what's your favorite Lyft memory?

We just wrapped Lyft’s first-ever AI Week, a virtual-first experience designed to build on our strong foundation of AI adoption by deepening fluency and strengthening every team member’s ability to apply AI effectively in their work. Across 83 sessions, team members had dedicated time to learn, experiment, build, and strengthen their AI fluency. 77 team members taught sessions, demoed their work, shared real use cases, led lightning talks, and helped make the week happen. We also saw that learning translated into action. Claude AI usage increased 18.5% week over week and Claude Code actions increased 146%, with monthly adoption reaching an all-time high. Finance, for example, nearly tripled its Claude usage during the week, increasing 194%, while Global Growth usage increased 24%. A huge thank you to the external leaders and partners who invested their time and expertise in our teams throughout the week, including Vercel, Workato, Coinbase, Google Workspace, Nexar Inc., LangChain, and leaders from Anthropic, NVIDIA, Atlassian, OpenAI, Hex, and more. And thank you to our own David Risher, Senthil Padmanabhan, and Suzie Reider for helping set the direction for what becoming AI-driven means at Lyft. The goal isn’t simply to use more AI. It’s to make great work faster and easier, sharpen decisions, unlock new possibilities, and ultimately deliver more for riders and drivers. AI doesn’t change what Lyft stands for. It changes how fast we can get there.
