Congrats to Eric Futoran Fredric Newberg and the Embrace team on their pending acquisition by Palo Alto Networks! With the help of their industry-leading real user monitoring (RUM) solution, Palo Alto's #observability platform will deliver end-to-end visibility from frontend user interaction to backend infrastructure. There is a philosophy in venture capital that some investors pick markets while others pick founders, and working with Eric has been a true testament to the power of the latter. First he had the instinct to start a mobile observability company after experiencing the pain-point at the mobile gaming giant he previously founded, Scopely. Second, he had the leadership and fortitude to face the Covid era head on, navigating large shifts within the observability market while recruiting an incredible team (Andrew Tunall Jason Robinson Praveena Khatri just a few of many). Third, he had the insight to recognize the rising tide of OpenTelemetry and transform Embrace into the leader in RUM for web and mobile. And finally, Eric had the wisdom to stay focused, competing on end-to-end observability via partnerships with backend players, most importantly Chronosphere, which Embrace will now be teaming up with even more closely! We built the Chronosphere Observability platform to provide deep visibility into applications and infrastructure, but this is only part of the picture. Today, I’m thrilled to share that Palo Alto Networks has announced its intent to acquire Embrace, a pioneer in high-fidelity Real User Monitoring. Eric Futoran, Fredric Newberg and Andrew Tunall created Embrace to offer innovative RUM capabilities for modern environments. Alongside Embrace’s user-focused RUM, we are also introducing Synthetics, a new capability built with our Autonomous Digital Experience Management (ADEM) team to proactively validate app performance from anywhere globally. By combining Embrace’s front-end capabilities and proactive Synthetic monitoring with Chronosphere’s backend visibility and analytics, we will deliver a full-stack solution that eliminates blindspots and prevents downtime. Additionally, with Cortex AgentiX, we will enable customers to automatically fix issues across the entire digital ecosystem, from mobile and web devices to cloud infrastructure. Excited to share that Embrace has been acquired by Palo Alto Networks! I'll never forget the day Eric Futoran first walked into our office. He was pre-everything but able to sketch out in detail exactly what he wanted to build. Leading his seed round was an easy decision. Interestingly Embrace today still maps almost exactly to what he laid out that morning. That kind of clarity is rare, and it's usually born from real pain. Eric had lived this firsthand as cofounder/COO of Scopely, where engineers were flying blind on why their mobile product broke for real users. Embrace gives them eyes on every single user session. Supporting founders like Eric through all the twists and turns, ups and downs, is exactly what I love about this job. Somewhere along the way we went from partners to friends. Huge congrats to Eric and the whole Embrace team!

I’m really excited to share that Embrace has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Palo Alto Networks!   It’s been an awesome journey and the next leg of it is going to be great as we join the folks at Palo Alto and their leading observability business.   There are too many people on the incredible team at Embrace — past and present —for me to individually thank for being part of building this company, but you all have my gratitude for bringing it every day.
