This page contains IGN's walkthrough for the side quest A Surprise Inheritance from The Witcher 3's first DLC expansion, Hearts of Stone.

This quest is a hidden treasure that you may come across anytime during Hearts of Stone. The treasure can be found just north of Heddel.

Clear out the Ghouls from the nearby Abandoned Site if you wish. With the area clear, loot the body near the ballista at the top of the hill. Read the note and then run down the hill to the marked area.

A level 39 Archgriffin has nested here. With a combination of Aard, Thunderbolt, and Hybrid Oil you should be able to slay the monster in no time. Take what remains of the griffin and open the cellar door in the building remains. Loot the chest down below to complete the quest.
