A Greedy God
A Greedy God is a Side Quest located in the region of Velen in The Witcher 3. In this quest, Geralt must mediate a dispute between two villagers and their wrathful god. To start this quest, you must first progress through the main story and complete Wandering in the Dark with Keira Metz to gain the Eye of Nehaleni, allowing you to dispel magical illusions.
A Greedy God Walkthrough
At the Wastrel Manor in Velen, you can head down the road leading south to find a ruin with two villagers named Preben and Dagmar. They are in the middle of making offerings to their god, Allgod, and they believe the diety has been protecting them.
Due to the ongoing war, Allgod has apparently cursed them and their meager offerings, which is where you come in.
Head to the statue to begin talking to this "god" that boasts of wrath that its ready to bring down on the village, but something seems fishy.
Using your Witcher Senses, look for a crack in the wall, and a bottle nearby smelling of vinegar. Look for a trail behind the wall to a pile of rubble, and using the Eye of Nehaleni you can disperse the illusion to find the real "Allgod" - a sylvan who's been living off the scraps that the villagers above feed him.
To deal with this false diety, you have a few options:
- Killing him will net you a good deal of experience, though the villagers will be unhappy (even when you tell them it wasn't really a god), and they'll leave for Claywich.
- If you didn't kill him or bargain with the sylvan, the villagers will get desparate and empty out their food storages, and you'll only earn a bit of experience.
- If you didn't kill him but did end up bargaining with the sylvan, the villagers will be thankful, and offer you extra experience along with money.
