The SteelSeries Arctis GameBuds are the best gaming earbuds we've tested for stylish looks, competent noise-cancelling and generally excellent audio that both Will and I have enjoyed. They're currently going for £95 on Amazon UK thanks to a potent 41% discount on the usual £159.99 list price. The deal is running on both the Xbox and PlayStation variants, with the white PS ones being slightly cheaper at £93 - result.

In terms of general looks, the Arctis GameBuds impress with their colour-coordinated finish for use with either Xbox or PS5, as well as their first-rate build quality and rounded charging case that's easily pocketable. The earbuds also fit well with a good seal for some good ANC performance and a natural-sounding transparency mode, while coming with pleasant physical buttons built in to save the hassle of touch controls. The case also supports Qi wireless charging for some added convenience.

Outside of the colour choice, we've also been impressed with the first-rate build quality of the GameBuds, plus their rounded charging case that's easily pocketable to make these a choice for gaming on the go and general use as wireless earbuds. Moreover, they also fit well with a good seal for some good ANC performance and a natural-sounding transparency mode that, at this price, is likely to put a lot of other generalist choices to shame. The same also goes for the pleasant physical buttons built in to save the hassle of touch controls, which can usually lead to a fair amount of frustration after it takes a few taps to pause a song or skip to another one. The case also supports Qi wireless charging for some added convenience, and up to 40 hours of battery life.

We found the audio quality here is generally good with an inoffensive sound profile that works well for games, music and movies alike. If the sound profile isn't to your tastes though, then you can use the fantastic Arctis mobile app for choosing from dozens of specific presets for different types of music or games, too, which helps in making the GameBuds some of the most versatile wireless earbuds you can pick up for the price.

You also get separate settings for the two different connectivity methods, as the Arctis GameBuds support both Bluetooth 5.3 and 2.4GHz wireless for excellent compatibility across virtually all platforms you can think of. Usually the colour would denote the platform of choice (white for PlayStation and black for Xbox). For the PS5 variant for reference, it means we're getting PS5 and PS4 support over 2.4GHz, plus compatibility with PC, Nintendo Switch, Android and iOS phones, plus other devices that support either method of connectivity.

Better still, the two connections can work side by side. You can stay connected to your console or PC over 2.4GHz for low-latency game audio while keeping your phone paired over Bluetooth, which means you can take a call or hear a notification without swapping devices or fishing out a separate set of earbuds. It's a really practical feature if you tend to game with your phone close by, and it's one that plenty of rival gaming earbuds still don't offer.

The built-in microphones are perfectly serviceable too, with enough clarity for party chat and the occasional call. They won't replace a dedicated headset mic if you spend hours in competitive voice chat, but for casual online play, and for the days you'd rather leave a bulky headset at home, they do the job well.

That makes the GameBuds a very flexible all-rounder. Whether you're gaming on a handheld on the train, working at a desk or heading out for a walk, they slip into your pocket and cope with all of it, and at under £100 they cost far less than many premium rivals.

The SteelSeries Arctis GameBuds for the modest asking price that Amazon is offering makes them quite the steal if you're after a versatile and great set for all manner of uses.
