New PS5, £289. Is this the best Black Friday console deal so far?
The new slim PS5 Digital can be fitted with a disc drive, too.
Sony's PlayStation 5 is unbeatable when it comes to value, outperforming the Switch 2 and entry-level gaming PCs while costing a fraction of the price. That's especially true when it comes to the PS5 Digital, which has been discounted to just £289 today for Black Friday.
That's an awesome price for a current generation console that can do ray tracing, sports an SSD for extremely rapid load times, and generally feels like a huge upgrade over its predecessor.

Sony PlayStation 5 Slim (Digital Edition)Now £289 (was £429.99, 33 percent off) |
Best of all, while this PS5 Digital console does lack a disc drive, you can actually fit one for just £70. That's £359 all-in, so still cheaper than a standard disc drive edition PS5 which is going for £379!
Either way, you'll be left with an awesome console that continues to show its value with a bunch of exclusive games, great ongoing support from Sony and a new, slimmer form factor that fits more easily into living rooms and gaming dens alike.
The PS5 can also be upgraded with off-the-shelf NVMe SSDs, such as this 2TB Acer Predator GM7 for £122. That's a great option if you'll be keeping the PS5 in its Digital guise and therefore want plenty of storage space beyond the 825GB built-in.
Stay tuned for more deals as we find them, and if you do pick this up, why not grab an extra PS5 DualSense controller for a historic low price?
