Borderlands 4 is all about acquiring the best loot and dealing as much damage as you can. While there are really strong Rare and Epic weapons, your goal should be to acquire a Legendary as soon as possible.

Each of the game’s weapon types has a ton of legendary options, but there’s no denying that legendary shotguns are the strongest. Hellwalker is a perfect example, a shotgun that completely destroys enemies at close range.

How to Get the Hellwalker Legendary Shotgun in Borderlands 4

The Hellwalker legendary shotgun can be acquired from the Saddleback and Immortal Boneface boss, also known as the “Meathead Riders,” found at the Old Scrape Ripper Drill Site. This drill site is located in the Cuspid Climb region on the east side of the game map.

Considering the Hellwalker falls under the legendary tier, players may need to defeat the Meathead Riders multiple times in order for it to drop. For reference, I had to beat this boss close to 10 times to finally get the Hellwalker shotgun.

After defeating Immortal Boneface, and if a legendary weapon happens to drop, you will hear a loud ding noise and see a glowing orange item appear.

This orange item could potentially be the Hellwalker, although it’s possible it could be the Shiny War Paint legendary Repkit or Lucian’s Flank legendary assault rifle, since those legendary items also drop from this boss.

How to Farm Meathead Riders for the Hellwalker Shotgun

Farming the Meathead Riders is as easy as purchasing an encore from the Moxxi’s Big Encore Machine near the entrance of the Old Scrape Ripper Drill Site. This will reset the entire area and allow you to complete the encounter again.

Luckily, players can reset drill sites as many times as they would like by using the encore machine. However, it isn’t free and will cost you around 30,000 cash per encore, so it would be wise to pick up all the dropped loot from the enemies in the drill site and sell it to the vending machine. This way, you don’t use up all your cash.

To make farming for the Hellwalker legendary shotgun less stressful, I recommend lowering the difficulty to easy. This will allow you to kill the wave of enemies and the Meathead Riders boss much quicker, speeding up each encounter. In other words, you will get the Hellwalker shotgun faster.

As for defeating the Meathead Riders boss, you want to take out the Saddleback first, since Immortal Boneface is almost impossible to kill before you do so. Once the Saddleback is dealt with, Immortal Boneface is much more manageable.

While there is no mandatory weapon to use against the Meathead Riders, I recommend using the Wombo Combo assault rifle, as it inflicts incredibly high damage due to its ability to automatically fire rockets from standard fire mode.

Hellwalker Attributes

The Hellwalker shotgun comes equipped with the Soothslayer unique trait, which adds a guitar sound every time you shoot it.

Besides the cool guitar noise, the Hellwalker deals high critical damage, has decent range, and does a great job at destroying shields. Out of all the shotguns I have used in Borderlands 4, the Hellwalker has the quickest reload. However, it can only get off two shots before needing to reload.

The Hellwalker is a great choice for midgame and endgame builds, especially for players who like to get up close and personal to the enemy. Another great choice is the Hot Slugger shotgun, another legendary weapon that is worth picking up.
