Commencement Weekend kicked off at Hoyt Sherman Place as Options Academy-DSM honored some 90 new graduates.
Meet Willard's favorite crossing guard duo: Jenn Baker and her Morkie Poo, Al. Together they help students safely cross East 30th each day.
With support from Toyota of Des Moines and Nike, nearly 400 middle and high school student-athletes competed in the DMPS Girls Flag Football League at Mediacom Stadium
East High School art teacher Ryan Koning and her students paint a mural along the Carl Voss Trail on the south side of the Des Moines River.
Students were in the spotlight at Hoyt Sherman for the annual Project Stage. Students from our six Turnaround Arts schools presented productions of Annie, Shrek, Willie Wonka and more.
It was a big day for Kindergarteners at Edmunds Elementary School as 25 new Strider bicycles were donated for their physical education class.
Thanks to a substantial endowment and generous alumni donations, the East High School Foundation distributed $210,000 in scholarships to 50 East seniors.
