He Was a Teutonic Knight

Heaving one last sigh, Christian lowers his sword and casts a look around. The massacre surrounding him, the smell of spilled blood tainting the air, no longer make his stomach roil. He’s proud to be able to fulfill his purpose and serve the Lord so well. The Prussians had thought to lay a trap and ambush him, having no doubt heard about the young duke of Hohenstein leading the troops. They’d miscalculated in their underestimation of him, and not for the first time has his training and that of his men brought them victory with ease. The ease with which his band of brothers had cut down the enemy makes him proud, but the slaughter he caused makes him long for a moment to withdraw and make penance. Using the bottom of his tunic, he carefully wipes his sword clean before sheathing it. He scans the fallen men around him, but notices his Teutonic knights are already recovering their own. He rubs his thumb over the large ruby ring on his right ring finger, cleaning it from blood. He pulls

Polls in more places

Oct 13, 2026

The community has always loved seeing the results of a good poll and peppering their opinions into other polls. Now your favorite way to share your opinion is seamlessly woven into your experience. Embed polls in journals, statuses, deviation descriptions, and custom sections, with new flair like bold, italics, and the ability to include images in your questions and answers. [DEVIATION] Where are you most excited to use polls? • Journals • Statuses • Deviation descriptions • Custom sections Stack more than one poll for a whole survey, or get to the point with a single status poll. Grab visitors to your profile with a featured poll in a custom section. Sellers with Subscriptions can also post a status or journal poll and submit it to their tier to make it subscriber-only. Creators can now (optionally) vote in their own poll, so you can add your voice to the results too! Embedding means you can even have multiple polls in one journal! Longer Titles, More Characters, and Emojis 🥰

Sep 8, 2026

You can now use special characters (like & @ " ; `), emojis (like 🎉 ✨ 🖌️ 🫠 🔥), and non-Latin characters (like 日本語, 한국어, Русский, العربية) in more areas across DeviantArt. Also, some character limits are doubling! Titles that were capped at 50 characters can now go up to 100, so you have more space to get creative and descriptive. This update applies to: Deviation titles (including journals) Galleries Collections (both public and private) Folders Tags also support non-Latin scripts, but their character limits stay the same. DeviantArt is home to artists and communities from all over the world, and now you can express yourself in whatever way feels natural. There’s also a separate effort to translate DeviantArt into more languages as part of our push to make the platform more inclusive. Transformation complete, NEW growth level unlocked

Jan 29, 2026

DeviantArt turned 25 this past year and celebrated over 100 million registered users. To be precise we’re approaching 110 million users! That is no small feat for an online art community founded in 2000, born on the early web, predating Facebook, Reddit, and other social networks, and stubbornly remaining the devious nexus of the internet for artists and art lovers from all walks of life and places. It hasn’t always been a smooth ride, and we’ve faced our fair share of challenges along the way. But as we celebrate our quarter century and step into the next phase of our journey, I can proudly say that DeviantArt is more alive and vibrant than ever before. I joined the company nine years ago following the Wix acquisition - first as COO, and for the last four years as CEO. I want to share a bit about where we started and how we’re doing today, especially for those who might’ve seen commentary about DeviantArt from people reacting from a distance, rather than from experience. “But

Join the beta testing program to help test and improve future DeviantArt features! Beta testing is a cornerstone of DeviantArt’s history, and beta testers benefit the community by providing feedback and usage data. Through bug reports and insight shared during the testing stages, beta testers can help shape and improve site features. Any deviant can become a beta tester by adding this journal to their favourites. :+fav: New Beta Testers are added daily; once you favorite this journal, you'll gain access the following day. If you decide later that you want to opt-out, you can do so by removing this journal from your favorites and you'll be removed the following day. :sherlock: How It Works Beta testers are among the first to see new features introduced to DeviantArt. This early access is provided so deviants can test new features and provide feedback for the DeviantArt team through comments, bug reports, and user engagement metrics before it's released sitewide. How to DeviantArt: Notifications

Apr 26, 2020

Greetings, ye olde quarantined masses of the world. For future generations of deviants wondering what on earth that greeting means, at the time I am writing this we are at day 41 (at least in good old Massachusetts) of social distancing due to COVID-19. A bit more down time than I am used to has resulted in this tutorial. So there is the bit of shining light. Yes, I am equating this tutorial to shining light. COME AT ME.As with my other How to Eclipse tutorials (linked at the end), the goal is to help the community learn and adjust to the new version of DeviantArt! It can be difficult to learn something new whether you have been on the site...

If you want to save your profile page forever-read

Apr 24, 2020

I have mixed feelings about this whole thing. I am staying because I love my community. And starting new somewhere else can be hard. Especially so late in the game on some of these older platforms... With that said if you are like me mourning the loss of old site DA this can be a great way to hall of fame the site in its ultimate perfection. A memory locked in a screen capture. If you want to save your profile intro landing page forever frozen in memory, try screen-capturing the whole page not using the screenshot button but this tool here, you can always uninstall it when done: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/full-page...

All About Seniority by Yuukon, journal

All About Seniority

Mar 19, 2020

Community WeekHi all, I am @Yuukon and I am excited that today I'll be sharing some ins and outs about being a Senior on DeviantArt with you! Seniority is more than just toilet seats, nursing homes, walking canes and grey hair, and I definitely look forward to sharing with you what it is beyond that! What is Seniority? Being a Senior on DA is different from being a senior in real life. One can be both, of course, but on DA, it's not a requirement to be a senior in real life to receive Seniority. Seniority on DA is basically a form of recognition for people who have left a positive mark in the community. Some get it for their time devoted t...

Hi everyone [EMOTE] You might have noticed I keep faling behind in submitting our photos [EMOTE] To be honest, we still have a LOT of photos to share. Some are back from 2022, some are as recent as from this year (2026). In total, we have 1100 photos in stash... Even if I keep scheduling 6 photos a day, that's 6 months worth of photos still queued up for your viewing pleasure [EMOTE] With new ones still lined up for editing to be shared also (another 1000 or so), it's becoming harder and harder to submit everything in an orderly fashion. SO long story short: For the first time, we're going to stack some photos in multi-deviation submissions. I hope this doesn't bother you, and you'll still enjoy our photos regardless [EMOTE]

Just when you think work is slowing down, I can dedicate some more time to DA again... Life throws you a curve ball 😅 At the start of August, we noticed our local stray unneutered male cat, brought along a friend. He or she seemed small, you g and shy. The first two were accurate, the latter turns out, not. This skin and bones female is used to people, meowing up a storm and asking for pets (and lots of food). So we gave her a name: Twiggy. M thought from the get-go that she was pregnant. I just figured it was a food belly. M was right: last Saturday, her belly was showing definite signs of pregnancy. But we figured because she was SO skinny, she was only just starting to show. How wrong we were. She had been hanging out in our enclosed backyard a lot, and would appear as soon as she heard us - she wasn't far away even if she wasn't in our backyard. But in Sunday, she didn't come (I had just mailed the shelter the day before, that we had a pregnant stray we wanted them to pick up
