To correct my previous comment bellow, It's highly likely I misinterpreted Melalina76's message, as I regularly receive phishing messages that are always different. Even Google's AI tool identified it as such, even though it's very likely not a fake in the end. Also, be careful with messages received through Melalina's old account, which is probably compromised. Let's hope Melalina can recover her account soon.
Yes, I have been restored. It's good to be back. dA came through for me. Thanks for your patience and support.
Yes im so happy for you. I hope the hacker didn't do anything wrong to your account during that time? In any case, this is great news. And it's reassuring that a solution to recover our accounts is possible in case of hacking.
Yes, we all have to be really careful these days. It's understandable and easy to think new accounts are scammers (it happens so much now).
I have the benefit of having known Mel on dA for over ten years. I know how she talks, and I can see into the backlogs of the group, so I can see her old account hasn't voted in over a week, which confirms she probably doesn't have access to her account. She votes every day normally, so that made it feel like the new account is a legit one.
The old account has a weird flag on it in the back channels. A curvy 'f' is next to the old account name. I wonder if that means Deviantart has flagged it as suspicious now, or maybe they are investigating it?
I hope she gets her account back, too.
If not, I can either invite her back in as a co-founder/ or contributor, and she'll have limited permissions like me, or she can start a whole new Contribute Arts group, and we'll inform everyone where to go if they want to be in a group where we can still control what we need to control. I'm on her side, and if she needs any help, she knows I am there.
There's an account (created 19 hours ago) trying to impersonate the group's founder via private message, named Melalina76. Be careful, it's certainly another phishing attempt.
Yikes! Thanks for the heads up. I'll see about blocking them and seeing what the real Mel wants to do about it.
