The road to Avengers: Doomsday has begun in Marvel Rivals, and festivities focused on The Avengers film have taken over. With this special event, you have the opportunity to claim some free Units by joining a photo op.
Outside of this event, participating in photo ops has never been an option before, so figuring out how this mechanic works can be rather tricky. You don’t want to miss out on earning those free Units, though, so if you’re struggling with this quest, here’s how to join a photo op in Marvel Rivals.

How to do a photo op in Marvel Rivals
You can join a photo op by joining Times Square as one of the key characters featured in The Avengers movie, then interacting with the outline of the hero you’re playing as at one of the photo stations. This process is a bit tricky to work through, so here’s a full breakdown of how to get it done.
- Join Times Square. You can find the option to do so right above Quick Match on the main page.
- Visit one of the photo op stations around the map. You can find them right next to the basketball court, directly north of the bleachers that are situated in the middle of the map.
- Switch to one of the characters featured in the photo op. All of the setups feature characters from the original The Avengers movie, so you’ll need to be one of them to participate.
- For the main Avengers photo op stations, you can be any member of the original team, which includes Captain America, Black Widow, Hulk, Iron Man, Hawkeye, or Thor.
- For the additional special photo op station tucked away in the corner, you can be Loki or Hulk.
- Look at the character you switched to. They must be a hologram, see-through texture for you to fill the slot. If they’re not, this means someone else is currently using that spot, so you’ll either need to wait, swap to someone else, or check out a different station. If the players in the server you’re on aren’t getting off the station, you can also try switching to a different one.
- Press the button that pops up next to the switch option. It varies by platform, but it will be displayed right next to the text that appears when you look at the character you want to fill in for.
- Snap a picture. Once you’ve pressed the button, the photo op will be activated. Take at least one picture to move on.
How to get free Units from photo op in Marvel Rivals
As soon as you snap your first picture with one of the photo ops in Times Square, a pop-up will appear, immediately granting you 100 Units for completing this task. Although there are three different photo stations around Times Square, you only need to snap one picture to finish this task.
If you’d like to earn more freebies, consider diving into the Blood Hunt mode next. This mode has lots of special rewards up for grabs, including a Kingpin Accessory and a golden variant of it, which you can acquire by earning Kingpin Dethroned Accessory Shards.
