Sophomore: My overall experience with LAUSD schools has been pleasant. I have attended LAUSD schools since elementary school. In both my elementary and middle/high schools, I have felt enriched by the curriculums and teachers for the most part. The parent involvement in both of my schools has been beneficial to achieving this. Additionally, the atmosphere at both of these schools has been kind, nurturing, and social. My only complaint is that all of the schools I have attended have had sub-par sports and science facilities, and the LAUSD food provided does not seem nutritious or pleasant enough, despite the fact that many students eat it (which is great)!... Senior: I have attended Palm Beach County Schools for thirteen years (kindergarten through high school) and I believe this county is generally very good. My elementary school, Sunrise Park Elementary, was wonderful; the staff and administration were hardworking and organized. My Middle School was nice too. While my high school, Olympic Heights High School, has offered me great opportunities and resources, the administration at the school is very poor. Funds were spent on golf carts for administrators rather than our broken and poorly functioning toilets and campus- at times throughout the years, there would only be two bathrooms (one girls and one boys) open for the 3,000 student population to use. Senior: The highlight of my time in the Gwinnett County public schools was the culture. No matter what subject or extracurricular you are taking, you meet others who are respectful and welcoming towards you. I appreciate the county's efforts towards a positive atmosphere. Alum: My experience with the Hawai'i Department of Education (HIDOE) was, indeed, "very good". I feel very privileged to have been educated in such a culturally rich and diverse community by many qualified educators who are devoted to teaching and preparing the keiki of Hawai'i for the real world. I learned an immense amount of life skills during my time in the HIDOE, especially about the importance of sustainability and caring for the environment. That said, there were also some things the HIDOE presented to me that I would like to see improved. Though there were many qualified educators in our schools, there were just as many that were unqualified. The HIDOE is notorious for being in extremely high demand of teachers across the state, and a result of this is the employment of any person who is willing to fulfill the duties of being a teacher, minus the proper credentials. Senior: The academics are great and so are the athletics. To start off the teachers are insanely nice and will do anything to help the student succeed if asked for help. I have received a lot of help before and after school with my teachers. Our football team is outstanding, especially with our new coaching staff we have been better than ever. The track team is also very awesome. We have made states consecutive years! The coach is just amazing and wants to see the athlete do better and get them to their full potential. Senior: Personally, my experience with DCPS schools has been good and bad. Good in the sense that I have never felt like my acidemia was affected or lessened because of the system. However, bad in the ways that the facilities at my school and others are not the best. For example, the bathrooms are not kept clean and are outdated. Some don't have mirros, paper towls, soap, or tissue. Also, there have been many times that the classroom's temperature has fluctuated. Senior: My experience with Prince Georges county hasn't been that bad. I started off in this county in Pre-K and as a now senior I've had a good experience. I feel prepared for the most part with the information taught to me, especially being in a science and technology program for my high school career. Overtime, I've had small situations with tough teachers and the environment, but nothing alarming. I would like to see change in certain policies that would allow students more freedom to express themselves. Senior: I have been educated within the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District since Pre-Kindergarten. I would would say my overall experience was extordinary and profound. There was a vast amount of diversity around the entirey of the school. The extracuriccular activities were accumulated to students commons of instrests and values. Throughout my educational journey the faculy and staff was exceptional, I was assured that they put forth more consideration in my education than I did.
