Payday series developer Overkill Software has announced that its upcoming co-op shooter based on Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead comic book series will have a significant showing at E3 next month.

"The upcoming weeks will be fully focused on our setup and planning for the E3 Expo in Los Angeles and to make sure it's the historical event we envision," parent company Starbreeze wrote on its website. "With a significant presence, our ambition is to showcase both Payday 2 and Overkill's The Walking Dead."
505 Games will publish Overkill's The Walking Dead (presumably still a working title), and the game will launch in 2016 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The game, which we still don't know much about, has the potential to "duplicate, even eclipse" the success of Payday 2, 505 games said previously.
The Payday series has sold more than 9 million copies as of December 31, 2014, and Payday 2 single-handedly pulled Starbreeze out of a 15-year loss in six months.
Overkill's The Walking Dead aims to deliver a "completely new co-op experience" to the Walking Dead universe that will explore new characters and storylines. It's a co-op first-person shooter that will blend action, role-playing, survival, and stealth, according to its official description. As you could have guessed, you'll take on the role of survivors trying to not die in a post-apocalyptic world.
The game is being made with the blessing of Kirkman, who says he was certain from the first day he saw the project that it was the "co-op action game fans have been waiting for." It is also the result of a new "long-term" partnership between Starbreeze and Kirkman's Skybound Interactive company. This partnership will extend "into the next decade" and marks a new era for Starbreeze, the company said.
Overkill has also shared an image of a zombie bust being used in the production of its Walking Dead game.
Development on the Payday series will continue as Overkill works on its Walking Dead game. What's more, Overkill is preparing some "unprecedented crossovers" between Payday and The Walking Dead.
E3 2015 kicks off June 14. GameSpot will be reporting live from Los Angeles all week long.

Can't we just get another Left 4 Dead game??? I'd love a next gen version of that.
Hope it's good.
need to see more of this game to make an opinion
I'm wondering if it's going to be Payday style self-contained levels you replay over and over to get levels and unlocks or if they'll have something a little more open world-ish.
really curious as to how its going to look, can't wait
I dunno... we'll see.? They pretty much nail the pacing of a careful point A to point B move as a team and a stakeout in Payday 2, but a lot of Payday 2's levels are small and the only reason the point A to point B move really works in Payday 2 is because your adversaries shoot back.? Left 4 Dead 2 became a giant game of rush because the zombies don't shoot back.? The animations in Payday 2 aren't all that great either.? I think they'd have to make firearms and ammo scarce and really focus in on melee combat to force people to slow down and to force people to be careful around hordes of zombies.
Regardless, I wish them luck.? They're one of only a few studios that can really pull this off as a major multiplayer game.
Finally been waiting for a walking dead coop shooter for the XOne
More zombie BS.
@HonorOfGod more zelda BS
@HonorOfGod then why are you commenting on here? Maybe go somewhere else??
Don't goof.
I enjoy co-op games, so I'm quite interested on this game. Will keep an eye out
Probably a coop story campaign. I'm fine with some story, but its really really really replay value i want from a zombie game.
Pass because what happen no one want play in future then be stuck
@playstationzone what
What , what , what got something say , what
@playstationzone Do you speak like you type?
@playstationzone They're saying that you don't make sense with the things that you type.
Call me interested, Payday 2 is great, A Walking Dead title and a follow up to Left 4 Dead, iiiiiinterested.
The question is, will we ever get a Walking Dead game where we actually get to play as the main characters?
@skyline5gtr?@LonelyHippie27 and who cares what you want? lol
@LonelyHippie27 Probably, I can see interesting characters in this type of game, melee with a samurai sword and a character limited to one handed firearms, seems like it might work. There probably wont be much story, pulling it in with characters is probably the only way this will represent the franchise, that and the levels.
@LonelyHippie27 why ? Who cares ? As long as its set in a similar world I don't wan't to play as a main character
@complacentcouch?@thang78?@skyline5gtr?@LonelyHippie27 We were just in the middle of a meeting with Image Comics and AMC to discuss the possibility of developing a AAA game based on The Walking Dead where you can choose to play as Rick, Michonne, Tyreese or Daryl.
We got as far as discussing possible storyboards for the characters and were heavily leaning on it being a prequel to the TV series that explores Daryl, Michonne and Tyreese's fight for survival before becoming a part of Rick's group and would then carry on through the eyes of Rick, but then Barry, our community manager burst into the boardroom, almost tripping over his own feet in his haste.
Our boss was furious and shouted at Barry, "What is the meaning of this? This is a very important meeting that you're currently interrupting!"
He replied, "Sorry sir, but I thought you needed to know right away." He looked as if he'd seen a ghost. We knew it wasn't good news, but even that didn't prepare us for what he was about to say.
"Well spit it out then, what is it?" the boss asked.
"It's... skyline5gtr, he says 'who cares', sir."
"No... skyline5gtr?"
"Yes, sir."
"The?skyline5gtr?"
"I'm afraid so, sir."
The meeting ended then and there. The project has now been cancelled and we can't get the boss to come down off of the window ledge.
@thang78?@skyline5gtr?@LonelyHippie27 I want a hug.?
