Hyperspace Delivery Boy Port

September 6th, 2002 by Crusader

David Hedbor let us know that he is currently developing a Linux port of Hyperspace Delivery Boy!, the 2D adventure game from John Romero’s company, Monkeystone. The initial target is the desktop, after which Zaurus support will be added. You can read a review of HDB (from AVault) here.

It’ll be nice to see this fun little game come out on Linux. I tried the Windows demo and enjoyed it. Now I’ll wait for the Linux port before I buy it. I was also pleased to see that the AVault review of the game draws comparisons between it and Rescue Rover. Now *that* takes me back! I remember playing that on my 286 (loaded from a 5.25 inch floppy!), long ago. An enjoyable game in its own right. Nice to see someone else remembers it.

I’m very excited about this game even though Eon Games keeps porting everything. I’m planning to buy it as soon as it’s available.

I thought that Romero already had a company called “Ironic Storm”. Can’t they get rid of him?
