WORCESTER - By yesterday morning, the out-of-town firefighters had departed, the camera crews had left, and the men of F&D; Trucking Co. were left alone to do what they have been itching to do all week: make the Worcester Cold Storage and Warehouse Co. building disappear.
A wrecking ball tapped at one of the warehouse's three standing walls, breaking the structure into 3,000-pound chunks that toppled and crashed down. Nicholas DiLiddo, one of F&D;'s owners, arrived at the scene Dec. 3 after the blaze and worked 60 hours straight as he dismantled the building from the inside, to avoid further burying the six men who died in the inferno.
At 9:30 p.m. Saturday, the remains of the last firefighter - Paul Brotherton, 41 - were removed. …
