King Leonidas - 300

"Spartans! Ready your breakfast and eat hearty... For tonight, we dine in hell!" It's badass one-liners like this one that make 300's King Leonidas a total crowd pleaser. Thanks to filmmaker Zack Snyder's superb rendering of the Spartan leader, and Gerard Butler's awesome performance, Leonidas is a lock for our favorite movie character of 2007. Leonidas knows how to wield a sword, to be sure, but it takes more than just action hero antics to make a truly classic character. He's got feelings too. Leonidas cares deeply about his men, and will stop at nothing to protect them while defending his homeland. He shows his softer side in his devotion to Queen Gorgo, whom he hooks up with in one of the steamiest sex scenes ever witnessed in a "guy movie" like this one. Butler once again proves that he's got way more chops than he's often given credit for. He gives poignancy and tenderness to the character's softer side, but when it's time to kick some ass you'd better get out of the way.
