About Andrew
Andrew has spent his working life both in the public and private sectors. This has given him the experience to be an effective MP, since he knows how Ottawa works, but also the issues that face everyone who does not live in Ottawa. He is a young person who moved to Saskatchewan because he believes in the great opportunities this province has to offer.
Andrew worked for several years on Parliament Hill for the Leader of the Opposition. There he specialized in communications and outreach, gaining valuable experience working in federal politics. He has also worked in an MP’s riding office and knows the dual responsibilities of an M.P. as a working parliamentarian, but most importantly, as a true representative of his or her constituents. In Saskatchewan, Andrew passed the Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker program and started his career in the insurance industry, working at Shenher Insurance in Regina. Andrew studied History and Politics at the University of Ottawa and at the University of Regina. Andrew is fluent in both official languages. His education and work experience will let him make a valuable contribution to Regina – Qu’Appelle. Andrew lives and works in Regina. Andrew is married to Jill, and they both look forward to raising their children here in Saskatchewan. On April 5th, 2006, Andrew was honoured to be elected by colleagues from all sides of the House to the position of Assistant Deputy Chair of Committees of the Whole. In this capacity, he serves as one of the assistants to Speaker Peter Milliken, presiding over debates in the House of Commons. |
