The Vizrt AI Keyer in the wild! I’ve been sitting on this for a few weeks. It’s how we opened Vizrt Days in Munich. When we started planning the event, one of my early thoughts was: how do we open with a bang? Being partnered with Sky Deutschland GmbH made the answer pretty obvious. The harder part was getting all the technology, the right people, the studio space, and the rehearsals lined up to create something genuinely magical. That’s exactly what we did. The Sky Sports team, the drone team from AirPixel - Camera Tracking, our amazing team of engineers, and the creatives at Dot Connector all came together at Sky Sports Germany studio. What we built and performed live was a full demonstration of what happens when augmented reality, thoughtful design, a world-class studio, talented camera operators and directors, and on-screen talent (me 😎) all work toward the same story. And then there was the piece of technical magic at the center of all of it: the AI keyer, working in the real world. No green screen. We took a physical studio and transformed it into two completely different virtual sets, live, using AI-driven keying and graphics from Viz Engine. Not only that, we brought AR into the space in a way where talent could walk completely around a virtual object as if it were physically standing there with them in the room. We put a lot of work into rehearsals. The day of the show, it was magic. And that’s what great storytelling does. It earns that moment and creates magic for the viewers. Advantage: AR 🎾 WBD Sports Europe ran Viz Arena on Eurosport's Courtside at Roland Garros. Real-time AR graphics were tracked and placed directly onto the court, so stats and sponsor overlays move with the camera rather than float above it. Changing light, unpredictable weather, fast camera cuts. The most underrated strategic move in this industry? Build real peer partnerships before you need them, and beyond what's on the product roadmap. At InfoComm last week I joined Zoom's Andy Carluccio on stage for "From Control Room to Boardroom: How Broadcast Workflows Are Escaping the Studio". Vizrt and Zoom have already built products together that reflect where enterprise and broadcast are headed. But what I walked away thinking about was something less tangible: the value of what happens when two companies with genuinely aligned goals just talk openly. Peer to peer, no agenda. The knowledge transfer is real. The cross-connections between teams, customers, and partners compound over time. And the market is moving fast.
