Last week we had the pleasure of welcoming Computer Science students from The Manchester Metropolitan University to EA Manchester for a studio visit and what a brilliant day it was! It’s always a highlight for us to connect with students who are exploring careers in games and tech, and to give them a behind-the-scenes look at life at EA Playdemic. Here’s a snapshot of what we got up to: 🔎 The group toured our studio space, checked out our dev area and seeing first-hand how our different disciplines collaborate to create and support our games. 🎨💻 Developers from Art, Design, Programming and QA shared insights into their roles, career pathways, and the key skills that make an impact in the industry. 🌟 Our Programming intern, Dylan, spoke candidly about his experience so far – from what surprised him most about working in games to practical tips for breaking into the industry. 🧠 Damon delivered a deep dive into Production, offering a behind-the-scenes perspective on how projects are planned, delivered and kept on track across large teams. 💬 We also had time for 1:1 conversations, including a catch-up between one of our mentorship students and their EA mentor – always a great moment to see those connections in action. 🏌️ A Golf Clash competition hosted by Tom from QA brought out everyone’s competitive side, with a Golf Clash hoodie up for grabs! 🎯 We wrapped up with an end-of-day studio quiz led by our Studio Ops Lead, Natasha, with an EA game code awarded to the winner. 🎁 And of course, no EA visit would be complete without a few goodies to take away. A huge thank you to the MMU students for their enthusiasm, curiosity and thoughtful questions throughout the day. It’s incredibly motivating for our teams to meet the next generation of developers at this stage in their journey. We’re excited to share that EA Playdemic has officially launched our University Mentorship Program for 2026! This year, we’re proud to be partnering with: • The Manchester Metropolitan University • University of Portsmouth • University of Staffordshire We have 15 talented students taking part across Games Art, Games Design, Games Programming, and Games Production. Each student has been matched with an EA Playdemic employee and will take part in a 1-hour session each month for 6 months. The EA Playdemic Mentorship Program is designed to bridge the gap between education and the games industry by pairing Playdemic team members with students aspiring to work in gaming. Through structured, supportive, and meaningful conversations, students gain clarity, confidence, and real-world insight into game development. We’re incredibly proud of everyone involved and excited to see how these mentoring relationships grow over the coming months. Last week, we were delighted to host students from Xaverian College Computer Science class at EA Manchester which was our very first college visit to the studio! It was fantastic to open our doors to aspiring creatives and give them a real insight into life at EA Playdemic. Here’s what the day looked like: 🔎The students has a studio tour of our workspace, meeting different teams and getting a feel for how our departments collaborate to bring games to life. 🎨💻 They met our developers from Art, Design, Programming and QA who shared short talks about their roles, career journeys, and what skills matter most in the industry. 🌟 Our current Game Design intern, Stephany, spoke about her day-to-day experience, what surprised her most about working in games, and practical advice for applying. 🧠 They had a Production Talk with Ash who gave them a look behind the curtain at how projects are managed and how large teams stay aligned. 🏌️ We hosted a Golf Clash Competition with Tom from QA, with a Golf Clash hoodie up for grabs! 🎯 Then we tested what they learned with an End-of-Day Studio Quiz by Studio Ops Lead Natasha, with an EA game code prize for the winner. 🎁 And of course, no visit would be complete without some EA goodie bags to take home! A huge thank you to the students and staff at Xaverian Sixth Form College for bringing such great energy and thoughtful questions. It’s always inspiring to meet the next generation of game makers at the very start of their journey. Last week, EA Playdemic had the pleasure of welcoming School of Digital Arts (SODA) at Manchester Metropolitan University Game Art students to EA Manchester for a studio tour! 🎮✨ We packed the day with a behind-the-scenes look at how we build games at Playdemic, including: 👣 Studio Walkthrough - a full tour of the studio and our teams/departments 🎮 Played Battlefield 6 in the same studio that makes Battlefield! Criterion Games 🎤 Department Mini-Talks - insights from Art / Design / Programming / UI 🌟 Intern Experience Talk - Georgina, our current UI intern, shared what it’s like day-to-day, plus tips on the interview process 🧠 Production Talk + Surprise Quiz - Damon (who visited the students a few months ago!) returned with a producers quiz to see what they remembered… with the winner taking home an EA game code 🏆 🎨 Mini Art Challenge - Deevya hosted a creative challenge where students designed their own Golf Clash golf balls ⛳️ 🎁 And to finish the day, everyone left with goodie bags! Huge thanks to the students and faculty for visiting. It was brilliant meeting the next generation of game makers, seeing the creativity in the room, and answering your questions. And a massive thank you to the Playdemic team for helping make the day happen.
