Responsibilities include: ownership of analytics shown to customers in the dashboard, log storage and retrieval, plus some of our coolest new products like Instant Logs and Analytics Engine. Jon Levine liked thisJon Levine liked thisLast week I wrapped up four of the most meaningful years of my career at Patreon. I am excited about what’s next (more on that soon), but Patreon will always hold a very special place in my heart. I love this company. I believe deeply in the mission, the vision, the strategy, and the team. I am leaving with gratitude in particular for three things: The first is the people – I built some of the strongest and most productive working relationships of my career at Patreon. Building shoulder to shoulder with the executive team, the leads in EPD, and teammates across the company has strengthened my conviction that Patreon has the right team to build a generational company in service of an ambitious mission. The second is the progress we’ve made – over the past four years we have transformed the product in pursuit of building an internet that rewards human creativity: launching the new brand and mobile apps, adding 100M+ free memberships on the platform, accelerating creator earnings (including $10B in lifetime earnings, a number that’s quite stale now!), and ultimately rolling out the network this year and setting up the next chapter of innovation (https://lnkd.in/gCNPrHfW). The product velocity now (https://lnkd.in/gMVjhdFe) speaks to how far we’ve come. Finally, I’m grateful for how much I learned along the way. From little things like “take pictures when you’re at a startup” to learning how to lead new functions, work with a board, and seeing up close the full power of a mission-driven, founder-led company. I recall four years ago someone encouraged me to take this opportunity because they thought I would learn the most and boy were they right. Thank you! These last four years have been the most meaningful and fulfilling of my career. Thank you in particular to Jack Conte for founding the company and being a fantastic manager, mentor, and thought partner. To all of my teammates over the years – I believe the world is a better place for the work you’ve done and I am so optimistic about the future for creators and fans thanks to you. My early work focused on secure software engineering — analyzing source code, identifying vulnerabilities, and making software safer by design. Joining Chainguard feels like coming home to work on something I have cared deeply about throughout my career. Chainguard is helping define the future of software supply chain security. As AI transforms how software is written and delivered, secure foundations have never been more important. I’m thrilled to help build platforms and engineering teams that enable organizations to build and operate secure software in this new era. I’m also excited to reunite with former colleagues, including Patrick Donahue and Reid Tatoris, and work alongside the team building Chainguard’s future. As I begin this next chapter, I’ve been reflecting on my seven years at Cloudflare. The journey was extraordinary. During that time, I was responsible for Cloudflare’s portfolio of Application Security Detection products, which became a major contributor to the company’s revenue and growth. I had the privilege of working with exceptional software engineers, machine learning and AI engineers, data scientists, security analysts, product leaders, and talented colleagues around the world. Together, we built systems that combined large-scale software engineering, security expertise, data, and machine learning to protect important Internet applications worldwide. We built an industry-leading machine-learning platform for bot detection that became one of the most commercially successful products in the industry. We created Cloudflare Turnstile, now widely used around the world as a privacy-preserving alternative to traditional CAPTCHAs. Seeing it adopted by governments, businesses, and organizations across many industries has been both humbling and deeply rewarding. We also built and launched Cloudflare’s API Security offering, turning an ambitious idea into a meaningful business that generated millions in revenue its first year. None of these accomplishments would have been possible without the exceptional engineers, product leaders, and partners I had the privilege of working with. I’m especially grateful to the leaders and mentors who brought me to Cloudflare, believed in me, and gave me the opportunity to grow — Usman Muzaffar and Jamie H.. I leave Cloudflare with tremendous pride, gratitude, and friendships that will last well beyond my time there. Now, I’m energized by what lies ahead at Chainguard. We have an ambitious mission, hard technical problems to solve, and an opportunity to make software safer for everyone. And we’re growing. If you’re an engineer passionate about AI, cybersecurity, software supply chain security, developer platforms, distributed systems, or building products with meaningful global impact, I’d love to hear from you.
