I've never played a Half-Life game; Should I start here? Or, if this game hasn't aged gracefully, like many early 3D games sadly have not, do any of the remakes/modifications capture the feel of playing the original, while updating coarse visuals, dated controls schemes, or other aspects? I never played HL1 but only HL2. Do you think can I skip the original game and play only the restored version?

I was wondering what the developer intended way of playing was? I think difficulty is quiet consistent over all of the games, not how hard the encounters are overall but rather what you can expect from easy, medium or hard, with easy having no scarcity for the few enemies that spawn, normal being kinda the mid in that and hard featuring slightly spongy enemies with increased ammo and health scarcity, along with a few other ai tweaks I always wanna play normal but the second I notice that I get less enemie...

I've played this game so many times but I'm having a rough time with these damn soldiers. They're absolutely brutalizing my health this time and idk why. A single soldier can half my health. Thank god their AI is a bit on the clunky side. I'm not even playing on hard, I'm on normal! Did they update this or something?...
