What are donations used for?
Donations go toward keeping Miraheze in operation, including server expenses, rented compute capacity and automation, domain registration services, and other necessary expenses. We use funds very efficiently; we have little overhead and are supported entirely by volunteers. We publish transactions, financial statements, and budgets on-wiki.
Who receives the donations?
Donations are sent to the WikiTide Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. WikiTide is responsible for operating the Miraheze service on behalf of its community.
Is there a preferred donation method?
If possible, we ask you to use GitHub Sponsors as they do not charge any fees so 100% of your donation goes to us directly. However, our other listed donation options are perfectly acceptable—we appreciate your support!
Are donations tax deductible?
Donations made in the United States are tax deductible. Miraheze is operated by the WikiTide Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity. For more information particular to your circumstances, you should consult a tax professional.
Does Miraheze have a list of expenditures/donations received?
Our Finance page tracks inflows and outflows of money at the transaction level. Donations are reported as aggregate figures.
Is Miraheze an incorporated entity?
Miraheze is a community-built wiki hosting service operated by the WikiTide Foundation, a nonprofit organization incorporated in the State of Idaho in the United States of America.
I'm not able to contribute financially. Are there other ways I can help?
Absolutely! All work that goes into the operation of Miraheze is performed entirely by volunteers who provide their time at no cost to the community.
