Commissioning artists, woo! Please pass on if you can!

Hi folks!

So, some of you may have seen the FRIGGING AMAZING PONY that Alina Pete of Weregeek drew for me at GenCon.

I have decided that I want a huge collection of Knit Me A Pony art that I’ve gotten folks to draw/make for me.  (I also have a story that Brendan Adkins of Ommatidia wrote in the front of my copy of his book, and one of my own crocheted finger puppets, so already this will be mixed-media.)

So, I’m not exactly well-off, but I do have a little money each paycheck to throw around. Thus, I would like to commission images & art & things that are Knit Me A Pony related.

I’ve seen many many artists putting commissions out there when they need a hand, but there’s none on my dash at the mo’.  So.

  1. If you know of an artist who is making a living at art or just doing art to survive/pay a bill and taking commissions, please leave me fan mail or email the deets to knitmeapony at gmail dot com.  This includes web comic artists who take commissions.

  2. If you are an artist doing similar, drop me a line at the above.

  3. If you don’t consider yourself an artist but you do need money/want to make something for pay/have a great idea/need the cash, please send me a message!

The deets about the job:

  1. The art doesn’t have to be a pony or knitting, but that would be awesome!  Just as long as it relates to the title ‘Knit Me A Pony’ I’ll be happy.  (Brendan’s story is about witches who knit ponies, for instance.  Badass.)

  2. I’m up for just about anything I can frame or shadowbox.  I’d like most pieces to be smaller than 3x5 so I can put tons in a custom collage frame I’ll be building, but sketches, painting, drawing, digital art, sculpture, whatever you do will work for me.  Color & black and white are both also totally groovy.  Heck, if you write music I bet I can figure out how to put an audio player on this thing.

  3. I’d like to pay about ten bucks for each of these. The ~$10 price point is flexible (particularly if you have a badass idea) and doesn’t include things like shipping.

  4. If you make digital art, I’d like permission to make a single print on heavy cardstock for myself so I can frame the work.

  5. I’d also like permission to post photos of the work you sent me, particularly once the frame is done.  I’ll happily watermark the images if you request it.

  6. I’d also like to commission someone to typeset/design word art of the story that I have.  I’m willing to pay a bit more for that, since it’s 101 words long and thus will need to be larger.  It’ll probably be the center/focal piece of my frame.

I’m hoping over the next six months or so to collect 20-30 of these in total, and then keep collecting them at cons and things in the future.

So yes, please pass this on!

I’ve got three folks doing this already, I’d love more!  I’m still looking for someone to set up the word art/typesetting for the story.
