We’re especially proud that the results were independently reproduced on Quantinuum hardware, with access enabled through our Startup Partner Program. The tests, which were validated on both Helios and H2 systems, proved the strong native accuracy of Quantinuum's machines, reinforcing the advantages of trapped ion architectures. With Helios—the world’s most accurate commercial quantum computer based on two-qubit gate fidelity—we’re setting an even higher standard for the performance and reliability needed to turn scientific progress into enterprise-scale value. The research also included contributions from Quantinuum partners RIKEN and BlueQubit, another Startup Program Partner. Since founding Qedma, we have pursued a single objective: to accelerate the quantum revolution by enabling quantum advantage beyond the limits of classical computation. 🚀 Together, QEDMA and IBM, with our partners RIKEN and BlueQubit, have demonstrated what I believe is one of the most important milestones in the history of quantum computing. To see QEDMA's technology recognized as one of the breakthroughs behind this achievement is one of the proudest moments of my career. Using Qedma's QESEM error mitigation software on IBM quantum computers, we accurately modeled the dynamics of a quantum material in a regime where multiple state-of-the-art classical simulation methods could no longer provide consistent or reliable answers, even when executed on Fugaku, one of the world's most powerful supercomputers. 🔬 Even more importantly, this work demonstrates something our field has pursued for decades: trusted quantum computation. We validated our methodology wherever classical verification remained possible, extended it beyond the classical frontier, and independently reproduced the same physics on a completely different quantum hardware platform from Quantinuum. 🏆 For the first time, quantum advantage has been demonstrated on commercially available quantum hardware using commercially available software, opening the door to a new era of scientific discovery. 🌅 This is only the beginning. I believe we are witnessing the first signs of the quantum hockey stick. Researchers at universities, national laboratories, research institutes, and industry can now begin exploring quantum advantage using commercially available quantum hardware together with Qedma's software. ❤️ None of this would have been possible without my co-founders, Prof. Dorit Aharonov and Prof. Netanel Lindner, the extraordinary team at QEDMA, and our outstanding collaborators. We made our first investments in quantum seven years ago, well before the wave of attention the sector has received since. Even then, we believed quantum computing would become one of the defining technological shifts of our time, with all the technical challenges which need to be overcome. Since then, our conviction only grew stronger, and the sector evolved even faster than our initial expectations. When we met the Q Factor team, we knew this was a special company in the making. It is a rare group of scientists and builders with exceptional backgrounds, coming together around a bold vision and combining the depth, precision, and technical strength needed to help move the field forward. Q Factor is not aiming for incremental progress. Almost every pre-seed founder signs a SAFE because it doesn't require a valuation. No negotiation. No price. You keep building. The appeal is obvious, and it made sense. What changed is the scale at which this is happening. Pre-seed SAFE rounds just hit a median of $1.9M. A year ago, they were $1.2M. That's 60% growth in twelve months. The instrument hasn't changed. The frequency and size have. Here's what founders don't usually see until it lands on the cap table: a SAFE doesn't cancel the price negotiation. It postpones it. And when the postponement ends, everything lands on the same day. Your Seed round closes. The priced round. On that exact day, every single pre-seed SAFE converts at the Seed valuation. At that exact same moment, the option pool gets created. Both happen at once. And you move from a median 5.4% option pool to 9.8%. Your founder ownership drops from 88.4% to 50.2%. Thirty-eight points. One step. And your company has only just been priced for the very first time. The pattern doesn't reset. It repeats. If you raise a SAFE before Series A, the median round size now sits at $3.0M. Another deferred price negotiation waiting on the next priced event. Postponing a decision is not the same as making a better one. And this is arithmetic you want to run before you sign, not after. The thesis is simple: you can't avoid the price conversation by raising on a SAFE. You can only delay it. Could SAFEs still make sense for your cap table? Maybe. Depending on your timeline and your numbers. But the math has gotten sharper, and the consequences of getting it wrong have gotten bigger. So ask yourself this: are you signing a SAFE because you've modeled what happens at conversion, or because you haven't? Tabnine was sold to Tricentis, and my journey as co-founder and CEO comes to an end. This is a sweet and fulfilling ending to a long winding road for a group of people who dreamt of changing the world and relentlessly acted on it. Despite Tabnine not growing to the scale we aimed for, I believe we've earned our place in history as pioneers of AI coding, and contributed to a revolution that has gone further than I expected to see in my lifetime. How can I summarize this wild ride? That will require a book (and I intend to write it!), but for now, let me take you back to how it started. In 2012, Eran Yahav and I caught up about an idea he wanted to share. After 60 minutes, I decided to go for it - 100/0. Why? Partnering with Eran was reason enough, but it was also clear we were onto something. Our plan was simple: * Build a system that saves developers from solving problems that already have a solution * Tech: a machine learning pipeline that learns all of GitHub and finds the commonalities. * We'll give the generic model away for free to build a user base, and charge organizations for their own * Software is eating the world, developers are expensive, and making developers 10%, 20%, or 50% more productive can be worth billions In hindsight, we saw the future - and built it, years before the world knew it wanted it. Being that early meant paving our own way: it took five or six iterations before we invented "AI autocomplete", which became the first-gen surface area for AI coding. We found investors who believed in the vision (despite "no money in devtools") - and in us. We built a crazy tech stack for predicting code, years pre-LLM - and got it to work! Then LLMs came, and we changed everything. Overnight. We carved out a small category, became the biggest fish in that small pond, and scaled to over a million users. Then the small pond days were over. GPT-3 and GitHub Copilot arrived. Suddenly we were competing against most of BigTech and the frontier labs. And still we found a way. We pivoted to Enterprise and kept adapting and scaling despite competitors pouring billions. This was a journey full of hardship, victories, defeats, sleepless nights, crazy ideas, and endless iteration. It was joy and laughs every day, through the good and the bad. Above all, I want to thank the amazing partners who made this journey worthwhile: my partner Eran, our talented, dedicated team, investors who backed us, customers who bet on us, our wise advisors, and everyone who was part of it. We are all fixated on the amazing revolution of agentic AI, but another revolution, possibly even bigger, is making huge strides forward. The Wall Street Journal covered QEDMA's (our portfolio company) and IBM’s latest work around quantum advantage. For the first time ever, we are witnessing proof of quantum advantage; this is a huge milestone, not just for Qedma and IBM but for the world. The paper shows how quantum computers can be used today to explore the physics of materials, with results confirmed to be superior to classic computing systems. For many years, the hard question in quantum was when it would finally be better than classic computers. That is exactly what Qedma and IBM have proved. There is still a long way to go. This proof deals with one specific area of physical research. This is just the first step, but a huge one. I am sure it will not take long before many more follow.
