Summary

Adds a guide for migrating existing OAuth 1.0a user tokens to OAuth 2.0 via the token exchange grant (grant_type=urn:ietf:params:oauth:grant-type:token-exchange on POST /2/oauth2/token), with no user re-authorization required.

New page: /fundamentals/authentication/oauth-2-0/oauth-1-0a-token-exchange ("Migrating from OAuth 1.0a" in the OAuth 2.0 sidebar group)

  • Prerequisites, exchange request (confidential + public client curl examples), success response
  • OAuth 1.0a permission → OAuth 2.0 scope mapping
  • Migration walkthrough, re-run/rotation behavior, rate limits, error table, FAQ

Related edits:

  • docs.json: nav entry for the new page
  • oauth-2-0/authorization-code.mdx: the "Grant types" section said only authorization-code and refresh-token grants are supported; it now also mentions the token exchange grant and links to the guide
  • oauth-1-0a/overview.mdx: <Tip> pointing OAuth 1.0a developers to the guide
  • changelog.mdx: Sep 21, 2026 entry announcing the feature

Notes for reviewers

  • The guide refers to an upcoming OAuth 1.0a retirement (walkthrough note and FAQ). This is the first place on docs.x.com that mentions it.
  • All scopes in the mapping table exist in openapi.json. Internal links verified; page rendering, code tabs, anchors, and accordions checked locally with mintlify dev on desktop and mobile viewports.
