Insane productivity gain for the team, and it's improving itself every night.Erick M. a aimé ceciHow we taught our AI coworker to take "no" for an answer. 🚫🤖 Meet Claudius, our internal AI engineer powered by GitHub Actions, linear webhooks, and nightly self-reflection crons. What started as a hack is now responsible for a meaningful share of our engineering output: 📊 The Stats: • 14% of all merged PRs in Taktile's main product repo are authored by Claudius • 69% of merged PRs modifying his own codebase/prompts are self-authored • 3,000+ total PRs raised across the org (60% merged / 40% closed) • 30B input / 500M output tokens processed every month While he handles the tedious work (debugging CI failures, summarizing customer call transcripts, investigating tickets across 100+ AWS accounts), his coolest feature is self-improvement. Every night, he reviews run traces and proposes improvements to his own prompts and infrastructure. But what makes the flywheel work is the 40% of PRs we close. To protect human attention, we programmed a hard constraint: Closed = Declined. If an engineer closes a PR without merging, Claudius must accept the decision at face value and never carry those changes forward. Erick M. a aimé ceciErick M. a aimé ceciComplaining about high token cost is misguided: You can spend very little on tokens and still waste most of it. You can spend a lot on tokens and still underspend. The question is what you get in return. The freakout in the last few weeks should be read as a symptom of most people not having a good sense of the business case behind their token consumption. Example: We recently measured a 15x return on tokens for one of our most scaled use cases in an A/B test. Sure, you could optimize that with cheaper models. But most financial institutions have so little AI in production that it makes more sense to focus on scaling up AI usage and optimizing costs later. I bet that I can find 10 use cases in any bank or insurance company that easily clear the hurdle rate, even with Opus.

Erick M. a aimé ceciErick M. a aimé ceciI don’t often share the more personal side of life here, but some milestones deserve to be celebrated. Last week, my wife and I marked our 20th wedding anniversary. 💍 When I look back at everything those 20 years have held - building a family, moving countries, living in the United States and Australia, and a career that has involved more travel, late nights and difficult decisions than either of us could have imagined - one thing has remained constant. Elizabeth has been there through all of it. She has heard the keynotes before the audience, challenged my thinking before the important meetings, helped me process the setbacks and kept me grounded through the successes. She has been my sounding board, my most honest adviser and, when necessary, the person who tells me that the joke really does need to come out of the presentation. But her contribution has been far greater than the advice she has given me. When we moved to the United States, Mia was four and Oscar was three. Elizabeth was a Physical Education and Dance teacher, but under the conditions of my original visa, she was not permitted to work. She put her own career on hold, moved our young family across the world and created the stability that allowed the rest of us to thrive. Careers are often described through roles, promotions and achievements. What they rarely show are the sacrifices made at home, the responsibilities carried by someone else and the quiet support that makes those achievements possible. That is perhaps the lesson I have come to appreciate most over the past 20 years: very few careers are built alone. Behind most professional success is someone absorbing uncertainty, offering perspective, carrying more than their share at times and creating the confidence for another person to take a risk. We should recognise those people more often - not just privately, and not only when the career is over. Elizabeth has never simply stood behind me. She has stood beside me - as an equal partner in every chapter of our life. Twenty years later, we may be a little less fresh-faced than in this photo, but I am more grateful for her than ever. Happy anniversary, Elizabeth. I would choose you, and this life together, all over again. ❤️
