I have been so ready to share this one that I decided not to wait and at least drop the first chapter. Here is Be Careful What You Chase.

Catra, Scorpia, and Entrapta are a heist crew at the peak of their game. Adora is a detective who can't seem to catch a break. Then one night, Catra and crew pull off a run-of-the-mill score that might not be so run-of-the-mill and Adora is called in to try and figure out what is going on but things are rarely as they seem, from any angle, and you should always be careful of what you chase, in case you catch it.

*****

Thunder rumbled in the distance as cool air swept down the street with the first edge of the cold front that heralded the early October storm just as much as the thunder did. Beautiful houses and manicured lawns sat on either side of the quiet street, with large trees hanging over the street while little cute street lights gave soft illumination to the sidewalks on either side. A lone figure jogged down the sidewalk, her baggy hoodie and workout pants dark gray and blue that seemed to disappear into the shadows between each pool of streetlight. The beanie on her head was huge, obviously holding back a large bundle of hair and she didn’t seem to have a care in the world as she ran, her lips seeming to move to music that must be coming in from the bluetooth speakers around her head.

“Wildcat, you really should have a mask on,” a soft but deep feminine voice sounded in her headset.

“We’re not having this conversation right now.”

“What if the cameras aren’t as suppressed as we think?”

“You worry too much.”

Another voice chimed in, this one higher and more animated.

“The camera are fine! E.M.I.L.Y. shows no activity from them. See, you can even see the cellular signal go out as Catra goes towards them!”

A little cackling laugh followed as Catra shook her head as she ran.
