The writer for Half-Life 2, Marc Laidlaw, confirmed it on an instagram story he made today. Frying1mans (talk) 01:51, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Has it been confirmed anywhere besides the Instagram story? The Instagram story appears to have disappeared. Mr. Bowler Hat (talk) 07:23, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Instagram stories disappear automatically after 24 hours. Still, we need a proper source. --179.199.150.24 (talk) 09:10, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The Claim that the art style of Half-Life 2 changed because of the leak is false

[edit]

The article currently claims that the art style and general setting of Half-Life 2 were drastically changed because of the 2003 leak is not true. This can be easily proven by looking at the actual 2003 leak files, as maps made in 2003 and the current build of the game at that time had already shifted away from that style and started to resemble the final game. The 2003 E3 demo prior to the leak also confirms this. Neither the 20th anniversary documentary [1] or the Raising the Bar art book claim this to be the case either. Neither article backs up this claim. I think this section should either be heavily modified or excised from the article entirely NotStanley4330 (talk) 00:12, 10 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I'll deal with this, thanks. I do think the sources state what I wrote, but if they're wrong, they're wrong, so I'll change it. Grungeosmunge (talk) 07:20, 11 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
OK. I removed it. Grungeosmunge (talk) 07:27, 11 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! NotStanley4330 (talk) 20:25, 21 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
