Quickstart
Create your first auto clip!
Auto clipping happens in the Medal app on the player’s PC, not inside your game. Medal records the screen while they play. When a moment happens, your game sends Medal one small web request, and Medal saves the seconds around it as a clip in the player’s library.
New to Medal?
Install Medal, then create a free account. This will be your account you use for your game's ownership. (You can invite developers to your team or create one account to share credentials with your team.)
1.Claim your game
Claim your game to get owner access. Already have access? Open your game in Manage Games.
Wait for a Medal admin to approve your claim.
2.Create an event and key
Once Medal approves your claim, choose your game and open Auto clipping. Here’s Overwatch as an example:
- Click Add event. Choose a name and icon, drag the handles to choose how many seconds to keep before and after the event, then Save changes.
- Click Generate API key. Copy the key now—it’s shown once.
- Wait for your event’s Early Access step to show Live. Allow about 3 minutes after saving.
3.Set up your test PC
Switch to Early Access
Set up Early AccessHelp (?) in Medal’s bottom-left sidebar → Switch to Early Access → Install now.
Once you’re on Early Access, restart Medal to pull the latest state of your Dev Portal events. Then open Auto Clipping to see your game events live on Early Access.
