BEHOLD! This year's gingerbread creation: Ginger the Octopus!

I bought a pepakura pattern from Papercraftfreakshop on Etsy (link here) and used that as a base, even though I had to adapt it a bit due to me making it in ... well, gingerbread.

The whole thing is 100% edible, and made out of gingerbread, icing (or is it called frosting?) and small chocolate candies only.

It has taken me ... AGES. Approximately about 30-40 hours? (just baking the pieces, one by one, took 15 hours over a weekend)
But worth it. Look at her. She's so pretty.

(For progess shots and exclamation of regret, see here)

  • imagine if a fuckin……. giant alien just showed up and stuck a huge hand in front of your face and then proceeded to offer you three different houses and wouldn’t stop until you moved out of your old shitty apartment and then helped you fuckin move

    and then just left

  • I first saw this on twitter and COULD NOT get over these comments:

Tweet by Honey @benegotherit: Inconceivable horror descends from space and, through a series of terrifying manipulations of your own tiny world, manages to communicate that it thinks your hat’s shit
Tweet by Honey @benegotherit: Imagine your mates roasting you later. Every night just waiting for someone to be like “remember when octhony had a hat so bad he had to fight god”

  • Caught on camera for the first time in history, this is the extremely-rare Chirodectes Maculatus—a species of spotted box jelly.

  • From Wikipedia: “There are no recorded cases of a human sting from Chirodectes as it "failed either to sting, or adhere to, the hand and forearm of an incautious volunteer" during the examination, but it is assumed – due to its relatively large size and to the extremely venomous nature of some chirodropids – that Chirodectes is itself venomous.“

    10/10 scienceing skills

  • Are we positive this isn’t four octopuses cosplaying a jellyfish though?
