I never watch a drama while it’s releasing but when I stumbled upon When Life Gives You Tangerines, I just couldn’t stop. I didn’t expect it to impact me the way it did. I haven’t cried to a show in so long and this story is so beautifully written, it brings a mixture of sad and happy tears. It broke me when Gwan-Sik passed but then healed me when I saw the publisher and her simple sentence: “I’m so proud of her.” It all came full circle, we experienced the lives of Ae-Sun, Gwan-Shik, the haenyeos, Geum-myeong, Eun-myeong and everyone. A beautiful show of first love, never settling, community, letting go dreams but coming back to them, the ups and downs of parent-child relationships but also, the unwavering love of a parent. This show was everything and more. To the writers and everyone who was a part of this drama — thank you for your hard work. <3
