What Deepnote does

Notebooks for collaboration

Deepnote notebooks run SQL and Python in the same document, and teams edit them together in real time.

Data apps and dashboards

Any notebook publishes as a data app or dashboard with inputs, scheduling and access control.

Agents and reusable skills

Deepnote agents run data work inside the workspace using skills, definitions, and rules a team trusts.

Integrations, permissions and traces

100+ native integrations shared across notebooks, apps, and agents, with role-based permissions and a trace of every run.

What makes Deepnote different

No vendor lock-in

An open-source file format that exports and converts to the formats you already work with, and runs on whichever AI model you choose.

Work anywhere

Run Deepnote Open Source locally in an agentic IDE such as VS Code, Cursor, or Codex, or run Deepnote Cloud multi-tenant, single-tenant, or self-hosted in your own VPC.

100+ native integrations

Deepnote connects natively to 100+ warehouses, databases, lakes, and APIs, with credentials held in the workspace.

Role-based access and audit trails

An agent sees only what its owner is allowed to see, and every run leaves a trace anyone with access can open.

Hosted anywhere

Deepnote runs hosted, in your own VPC or on-premises, including the EU region for teams with data-residency rules.

Deepnote Open Source

Deepnote open-sourced its core in November 2025. The .ipynb format was built before the cloud, collaboration, and AI, with no comments or permissions, noisy diffs, and isolated notebooks.

The .deepnote format is a readable YAML file that holds a whole project, with comments, permissions, and clean diffs, so teams can review each other's work and what an agent changed. Unlike .py scripts, it carries SQL, rich text, charts, and inputs alongside Python. The format, converter, toolkit, CLI, and MCP server are open source under Apache 2.0. Deepnote Open Source is the local, single-player version. Deepnote Cloud is the hosted version where teams and agents work on the same notebook in real time.

Jakub Jurovych

Founder & CEO

Jakub started Deepnote in 2019 to make data work collaborative. With a background in human-computer interaction, he is interested in how people interact with data and how that interaction is evolving into human-agent collaboration. He has led Deepnote’s evolution from a shared notebook to an open data workspace where people and agents work side by side.

“Deepnote is one of the essential tools data teams use to collaborate, and we’re excited to help shape the future of human–AI collaboration, where people and intelligent systems work together to turn ideas into impact.”
