James McKay shared thisReally enjoyed being at the Salesforce Connected Council event in Sydney this week, a great opportunity to see the Salesforce Public Sector team in action and hear what’s top of mind for local councils. A key theme was how to build citizen trust and improve the citizen experience by unifying data to provide a centralised view of citizen information, enhanced with Agentforce AI. It was also great catching up with Mark Margin from Maitland City Council, who sat on the panel and shared his experience firsthand. Always inspiring to see forward thinking councils leading the way in modernising local government services. Big shout out to the fabulous MCC team, including Trent Matheson and Shanna Kripp for the amazing work you’re doing. And of course, a huge thanks to Salesforce for hosting such an engaging session and continuing to drive innovation in the public sector. James McKay liked thisJames McKay liked thisIt’s bittersweet that I say farewell to nearly 7 of the best years at Salesforce 🥲 I remember arriving in Australia in late 2019 and doing my first interview for this role from the back of a campervan (sorry, Claire!), travelling down northern Queensland as a backpacker. Little did I know it would turn out to be one of the best decisions I ever made. Oran even had to convince me not to do farm work and to take this job. Good advice. Over the years I’ve had some of the best personal and professional experiences of my career and led some truly exceptional teams. Getting to experience the last ever bootcamp onboarding in San Francisco, straight into a pandemic, then working on many incredible client transformational projects, bottle caps 👀 (IYKYK), a number of dodgy haircuts, an unnecessary amount of instagram stories of our office view and last month a full circle moment as I became an Australian citizen. Too many milestones to count, and I’ll be forever grateful for every one of them. Most importantly, it’s the great lifelong friends made along the way that made Salesforce so great. There are countless people to thank. But will give it my best shot - thank you Bethany Nyberg for hiring me, and to my incredible leaders; Penelope Bowden , Stefan Pfister , Luke Sheehan , Merlin Luck , Adrian Towsey , Tom Brandon , Blair Wood , Amy Boulter , Atousa Colusso , and Stephanie Wells for leading me along the way. Some of the OGs Danielle Rounding , Danniel Wyer , Michael Mifsud , Jaime Lee Mervin , Calyn McCreadie , Lou Brassil , Albert Portsmouth , Lorcán Galvin , Cian Galvin and finally to the teams that I’ve been lucky enough to lead, by god it’s been fun! James McKay liked thisJames McKay liked thisI’m proud to celebrate my 5th anniversary at CloudActive 🎉 5 years. That went by faster than I expected. When I joined, I was focused on one thing - building solutions. Today, I find myself thinking about something very different - impact. Over these 5 years, I’ve had the opportunity to work on complex implementations in Salesforce, including delivering public sector projects across Australia, where the work goes beyond systems and contributes to services that impact real people and communities. Somewhere along the way, the role evolved: From writing code → to designing systems → to solving problems that don’t always have clear answers. And it hasn’t always been easy. Tight deadlines. Complex architectures. Moments where things didn’t go as planned. But those are the moments that shaped me the most. 💡 One thing I’ve learned: Technology can solve problems. But great architecture creates lasting impact. A special thank you to James McKay, your vision and trust gave me the opportunity to take ownership, make decisions, and grow beyond just delivering tasks. Also grateful to Mark Tough for the continuous support and collaboration. It’s been a key part of this journey. And to all our clients, thank you for trusting us with work that truly matters.
