Thanks to Debby Blakey and the team at HESTA for releasing this 40:40 Vision Progress Report 2025. As a Senior female leader and a mother of emerging women leaders, Im encouraged to see evidence showing that organisations committed to the 40:40:20 model are outperforming the broader ASX 300. It great to see the data that shows gender balance isn’t just about being politically correct, it makes good business sense. Still the progress is much slower than many of us would hope for. Women still hold only around 9–10% of CEO roles across the ASX 300, and remain under-represented in key line roles that often lead to the CEO. Leaders like Debby Blakey, Natalie Kelly, GAICD at HESTA and many others like Christine Holgate, Kylie Bishop, Shelley Abrams, Sidone Thomas, Morgan Ryan, Liz Spaull, Georgie Harman AO, Bettina McMahon,Elaine Zhuang,Janet Jukes, Emily Amos, Georgia Foster, Janette Kendall ,Rachel David, Justine Cain are a great examples of why representation in senior, commercial roles matters and what’s possible when pathways are open. Targets work when they are backed by accountability and real cultural change. I’m hoping for the next generation of women that this is just accepted as solid business practice.
